Good tip on doing them orally with your child and starting a lower level than their reading level! Thanks

I agree that you don’t need the student books if you are doing it together. If you want it to be independent work, then those are needed. My daughter is doing the online course for The Blue Fairy Book right now. She loves the teacher. I wish those online classes weren’t so expensive. I’m thankful they offered this one for free.

Thank you! We are using a different reading curriculum, but I needed to hear that it is okay to do the worksheets orally.

I found quite a few used on Thriftbooks this year and have been using them. I like them to just add some easier structure for literature study but they don't break the bank. I also found the MP used introduction to composition that I plan on using next year. Do you use that one?

No, I haven't used that course yet. Let me know if you try it out!!

Hello. Do these come in 5th or 6th grade level? Thank you for sharing. You are very detailed in explaining.

Yes they do. They have some scheduled in the core for those grades but also a few extra ones in case you want to swap out.

I have found that some guides have more “fun” stuff than others.

Does your son read the books aloud to you or is that part done independently? If not, what type of books do you have him read aloud to you?

A mix of both. We break it up and he appreciates the variety. He is reading either way and developing both silent and oral reading so I'm ok with mixing it up.
