Why cant all of the younger generation be more like this guy. I treat over 600 lawns and could probably learn a lot from him if he was in the south with the warm season folks.

Well done Jake. Does mowing more often make the grass thicken? I would really like mine to be thicker.
@paulm.74226 жыл бұрын
More frequent mowing will make it thicker. I'm in Dallas and I have St Augustine. I dethatched in March and everything looked quite thin. I'm now mowing twice a week and slowly bringing the height up to 3". I've done two applications of Milorganite so far, this year. We are now just about to hit 100-degree days!

Paul M. I'm in Colorado and we are getting into the 90's. Which is a little warm for my cool season grasses. I have mainly KBG but there are others. I put down milo about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Just need the grass to come together and tighten up.
@paulm.74226 жыл бұрын
Bo Randolph ... That's a little warm this early in the year. We're probably going to fry, this summer! Milo is great, but it takes time to work. Fortunately, it does not burn grass. Because of de-thatching, I no longer have that thick carpet "underlay" feel of my neighbors' lawns ... but I don't see any yellow patches, either! :) Since going organic, the number of worm casts and probing birds on my lawn is amazing.

Jake is there a cheaper version of RGS also?
@juliocs54836 жыл бұрын
The basic ingredients to RGS are Humic Acid, Fulvic Acid (smaller molecule of Humic) and Kelp...I found a liquid kelp 32oz that makes hundreds of gallons for $9.99 on amazon...Humic can be found on the web as well...I also found some Liquid iron for around $10 that makes 100s of gallons as well, again also on amazon...gonna make my own cocktails for my st. Augustine...I also have the RGS products which have been working great for me...just pricey! Will my cocktail be as potent as N EXT products probably not but won't hurt to try them.

You can absolutely beat the price of milorganite. My lawn is 30,000sqft. I would need 12 bags of milorganite st $10.98 a bag = $131.76. Or I could buy Scott's, they sell 15,000 sqft bags for $34.99. I would need 2 bags = $69.98. Milorganite is literally twice the price.
@slliks676 жыл бұрын
Brad Carrick thanks i have 21,000 sq ft and the sensible thing to do would be scotts 15,000 bags
@JakeTheLawnKid6 жыл бұрын
That's totally fine, but there's a lot more margain of error with Scott's because it's a synthetic, it's very crucial you don't over apply, otherwise, it will burn the lawn due to fast release of high nitrogen amounts.
@aguyandhiscomputer6 жыл бұрын
Yes and some of us choose Culver's over McDonald's.
@Brad551026 жыл бұрын
Did you see how i did the math for you. One is $70 one is $130. If you have a large lawn the choice is simple. Not to mention that you would have to load 12 bags of one and 2 of the other. Plus Scott's is guaranteed not to burn your lawn.
