The Marx military train is very cool Ed. I love the K-Line Santa Fe Flyer also. May we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Happy Memorial Day Ed

Heartbreaking - Raymond Berg was so very young. So many today have no idea what the war was like. No new cars, no new tires , food ration stamps, horse or rabbit meat, toys given up for scrap drives, only paper Lionel trains available, no Dad around to be with their children, and victory gardens in backyards. I was born in 1943. My Dad sent to North Africa at some point in the Army Air Corp. My step Dad on Navy anti-submarine patrol in a PBY.

Many thanx John! Ray was a tanker and had been in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and on up through France before being killed. I was stationed in Germany and we visited the town where he was killed. A nice, small, peaceful little hamlet that for a week or two back in 1945 turned into a hell hole! Funny, but almost 40 years later I would marry a German girl whose father was a Fallschirmjaeger (paratrooper) in Crete and later in the Africa Korps before becoming a POW. Such is the way of the world!

@@Ed-ICE-Berg Sounds like he and Audie Murphy followed a similar path. What a sorrowful war.
