I have always felt fortunate to have found Ross and the other Freshman while searching the airwaves way back in the early 50's. I have spent my entire life in appreciation for four exceptional musicians who had the unique ability to arrange and sing pop music in a jazz style using harmonies so very, very tight- four guys that always sounded like five. There have been many who tried to copy the sound - none have even come close.

My Dad knew Ross going to the same high school and taking chorus class together. I got Glen Campbell's autograph because the Four Freshmen were on the same bill for the show. Ross got me Glen's autograph. He came over to our house one time and did his Leroy voice for my brother and me. I love him and the Four Freshmen!

(Cont'd) Of course, their sound went around the world. But initially starting from Marin County, through Carmel, Santa Barbara, and all points south, you could not only hear but feel that wonderful, surfer boy sound.

Were the Four on good terms with The Beach Boys? I hear a connection between the groups. Anyone?

Yes, the Brian Wilson revered the Freshmen and the Freshmen spoke kindly of the Beach Boys.
