Memories Of Bevercotes Colliery.

Bevercotes Colliery 1952 First sod cut for £5 million new pit with expected reserves for 100 years of production from three seams the colliery.Bevercotes Colliery was the first fully automated mine And Was Hoped To Be Eventually A Manless Coal Mine. It went into production in July 1965. Located in Bevercotes to the north of Ollerton, the colliery was, alongside Cotgrave Colliery, one of two new collieries opened in the county of Nottinghamshire in the 1960s,Safety Record Of 4 Fatalities. The colliery was sadly closed in 1993 and turned into a nature reserve.
