This is easily my favorite book in the series. I think Erikson leaned on his background in archeology to create the most believable world in fantasy. The Malazan world is so detailed that the books even give off a Historical Fiction vibe - which I adore.

Erikson is great at writing hilarious characters and dialogue. Despite how dark the stories can be at times, there are these incredible moments of levity between the marines.

Memories of Ice is such an amazing book! It's only the third book in a ten book series, so its far from the end, yet in many ways this book was more satisfying than the finales of many other series that I've read! This not even my favorite in the series, but still one of the best fantasy novels out there for sure and I do think about it often.
