Sheriff street is/was an absolute hell hole. Most of the kids in this video turned in junkie criminals, the rest ended up as alco scroungers.
@deluxedjsireland2243 жыл бұрын
@@takexioxlxodkdjohnson6686 That's bollocks. A lot of music talent has come out of Sheriff St and some of them from the same era - Stephen Gately, the DJ Billy Scurry and singer/songwriters Antoinette Dunleavy and Gemma Dunleavy (cousins). Are you calling them criminals and scroungers?

Great photos. Too reachy to use Robbie Keane's quotes about street football with these photos behind them. An attempt to connect his name with the street football of the 50s, 60s, and 70 in Sheriff St and to create a warm fuzzy tourist-friendly picture that Robbie was out there on the stones in Sheriff St learning his trade. Robbie is a suburban man, from the suburb of Tallaght. A place that inner city people used to refer to as 'out in the country'
@patglennon96713 жыл бұрын
It was inner city people who moved to tallaght when the flats were knocked
@speakertreatz3 жыл бұрын
@@patglennon9671 I'm not from the inner city Pat, or my parents. Grandparents yes. Springfield wasn't all inner city and there was a lot of families from up North. In the estates further out where Robbie is from, people were moved from the flats yes but not all of them. The ones I knew were from Inchicore. What I'm saying is Robbie is not from the inner city.

I am from the inner city and it's been forty years at least since we referred to Tallaght as 'out in the country' though you'd have more commonly heard it referred to as 'the bog arse of nowhere'. It's now broadly known as Talifornia, Lol
@speakertreatz2 жыл бұрын
@@louisecollins2367 Lol I did say 'used to refer to', whether it was the polite or less-polite version. It was a long time ago.I am from Tallaght, there wasn't much out there even by the time we moved to Walkinstown but it's come on a long way since!

A whole lot of romanticizing being used here. I grew up in a moderately decent part of Dublin and came across a lot of low life from the kinds of areas shown in this vid.
