The green grass of home. Arakura kindy late 70s, Pencarrow school the 80s, wainui intermediate 87/88, then wainui college 89, 3rd form through to 7th form. Best mates, music, and cars. 56 dover road was for mischief boys back then too. The boys home lol. Played league growing up over there, a few stints with the local metal band as drummer. Me and my mates teaching ourselves how to drive in my mums car lol 3am to 5am lessons lol 💀 all down wellington rd, the village, and not a cop in sight. Iggy did the day run lol lol. Tana umaga and his whanau lived around the corner from us, grew up with the weepu whanau as me dad played league with ox back in the day. The crawfords, Houpapas, olsens, moana whanau, kimi whanau, reedys, kumas, i tell ya... Was an awesome time back then. Memeories will last me a lifetime to smile back on. Heres to you wainui. Home sweet Home. Looking forward to one day moving back. Churrrrr.

Oh man, loved reading these memories! Great stuff, thanks for the comments. Great family names you mentioned. Janice Umaga was a year above me - crazy lady and brilliant all in one. Mike was in my brother Glen’s year and Tana was with brother Ian. You couldn’t meet a more humble bunch of people. Ah, more memories now!

@@jeffwarner8361 Nice one! I'm only 48 but still remember them days like it was last week. I hung out with the older crowd back then and learned so much from everyone. I miss home bro. Now living in porirua, but wainui will always have a place in my green and black heart. Best place in wgtn.

I lived in 6 Wright Street late 1950's till late 1967 those were the days now Wainui looks more like a yuppie town. Wainui back then was called nappy valley and where i lived only 3 house's in the street. I went to Wainui Primary then to Glendale.

Thanks! Remember Wrights Road well. I think that’s where we used to go on our driving tests to do a hill start! My parents moved to Wainui with me in 1964. Very much Nappy Valley then!
