Thank you so much🙏 I come from Lithuania, a small country in the Eastern part of the Europe. In our history we knew very well what is resistance and fighting for freedom and human rights as we were living under occupation of the Soviet Russia (the threat is still here). And what Mr. Edward Said spoke here is so relevant and known to Lithuanians. He reminds me of my father who used to be a restless fighter for oppressed people, for justice and human rights. Mr. Said's humanity resonates a lot with my father's. Unfortunately, very often such brightminded people pass away too early. They both will be missed🤍 In solidarity with Palestinians and all who struggle for their freedom🙏

"Einsteins of the day" are mad. This forum will be labeled anti-...(deep pocket) in no time.
Some Jews (very few, actually) from Arab countries occasionally refer to themselves as Arab Jews or Jewish Arabs. Almost all who use that definition are very left-wing people of Iraqi-Jewish background. People like Ella Shohat, Yehoda Shenhav, Naeem Giladi, Avi Shlaim, who use the term "Arab Jew" are all Iraqi-born ultra Left-wing Jews or come from Iraqi-Jewish families that moved to Israel. There was a large Communist student movement in Iraq which some Jews participated in.

To shun their Arab roots, to appease the Americans who fund their “Children of God” fantasy, is the central issue in the denial of Palestinian people. Israeli Jews have to create a barrier to show they’re somehow different and dare I say, “special”.

As far as Jews from Arabic-speaking families (whether long-term residents of Eretz Yisrael or more recent immigrants from places like Iraq, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, etc.) in the period leading up to Israeli independence, many were proud of knowing Arabic and having Arab culture, maybe, but in terms of identifying with the politics of Arab nationalism and opposing Zionism--I don't think you could find one Arabic-speaking Mizrahi Jew in Palestine/Israel in the 1940s who wasn't pro-Zionist.

What would the Palestinians have to do for you to "trust" them with their own country? When the state of israel was founded it had fixed borders, right? How do you justify the occupation? Because israel has no legal claim to the still occupied territories, or am I mistaken? But a two-state sollution is probably the only way to go. How do you think Jerusalem should be divided?
@cliffgaither3 жыл бұрын
voxvoxvox ~ "A two-state solution" has been made impossible by Israel. A two-state solution would mean Israel agreeing to the Right-of-Return ; pre-1967 Borders ; complying with International Laws ... Illegally Occupying Forces (Israel), have no interest in returning land they have stolen. As of June 2021, Israel still gives the middle-finger gesture to the so-called International Community ; Israel still builds illegal settlements ; Israel still viciously mows the lawn. Colonizers who take land from others, don't want a two-state solution. Colonizers want the land of the Colonized and evermore of it AND the Golan Heights, too.
