I see the point and I am genuine about learning to get my memory to a point where people think I am a genius, however how am I supposed to use the 'hand butter magnet book' method to learn about Plato's philosophies?
@RMBittner
@RMBittner 5 жыл бұрын
The short answer: You’re not. To remember Plato’s philosophies, I think you would be better served by using the memory palace method. Much information on developing and using memory palaces is available on the Internet and in O’Brien’s own books.

Yes. And some of his books will explain how. Look for them at your local public library. There are also other people that teach these techniques. Perhaps one of them will have a perspective that will help you reach your memory goals. Some suggestions: Tony Buzan, Michael Gelb, Paul R Scheele, and Sean Whiteley. There are others these are just those that come to mind first for me.

i read the book it didn't help me i was thinking it will good tips to use them for the memorization of law, formulas ,history ,long complicated paragraphs ,list of sentences but at the end of the day i realize this not a solution for me, its only for memorization of unmeaningful data for the competition. But atleast thanks for number# techniques it really helps.

Take all these mnemonic systems as just tools. You have to think creatively about how to use them to achieve your personal goals. No one achieves personal success solely on the shoulders of others - you have to work for it yourself. That said, one thing that you might investigate and put effort into learning how to do well is mindmapping. I suggest looking into the books of Tony Buzan as a start for learning how to mindmap.

That’s definitely not true! I use to study in nursing and results are great! You gotta build a story with each keyword ( give the keywords a nickname) and make a story with it and I do this without his book I watched many vids on this stuff and did this stuff naturally without these dudes but still it confirms to be a real thing

Learning 4 words is all well and good but what about learning extremely complicated events and political leader's decisions in history? Why, how, and when they made a decision etc. The journey and link methods (yes I have your book) don't enable me to remember huge paragraphs of information!

Sam Stevenson In this video Dominic O'Brien demonstrates how one easily can memorize peaces of information. He prooves that everyone can do it, it's just about the method you use, and it works with your imagination, your association and a little exercise. I encourage you to join one of Dominic O'Briens seminars if possible. During the seminar he shows you how to apply these methods in every single task. It really is an eye opener for students and takes you to the next level. I'll give you a few tips on how to remember facts: 1. Imagine the action vividly 2. Use all your senses 3. Use humour, sexuality, emotions 4. Exaggerate the action

Sam Stevenson You could employ his techniques to memorise a vast number of key words. These key words serve as cues for the paragraphs of information that you require. Subsequently, other memory techniques will be required like grouping, acronyms, use of colours, repetition and review will enforce these huge paragraphs of information into your brain. I hope that helps. :)

There are a couple of things you can experiment with... One is the idea many teachers use to do a sort of "info dump" of something into the minds of children - and that is to set it to a tune and sing it to yourself or to someone you know several times until you've learned it as you would any other song. It does take a bit more time than other mnemonic methods, but it works. In this case the hard part would be finding the wording and/or the melody that would help you remember. The other idea is to use mindmapping techniques and combine them with or associate them with other memory techniques you already know. Because a mindmap somewhat mirrors the way your mind/memory works it is an amazing aid to remembering large chunks of information. Last thought is that you might also check out some of Tony Buzan's books and audio books/seminars on tapping into the vast potential of the brain. Buzan was/is a sort of mentor for Dominic O’Brien, so he knows what he's talking about. One other author you might investigate to determine if he has anything that might help you achieve your memory goals is Michael Gelb, the author of How to Think Like Leonardo DaVinci. He has several books out now - some on the potential of the human brain/mind and others on a physical technique that is widely used by actors and singers as it helps quite a bit in helping them to perform at their best. This branch (twig?) of knowledge is referred to in the literature that covers it as "The Alexander Technique." Hope this helps. :)

problem is, all these people with super memories are just gifted! thats it.. plain and simple. like a singer, or an athlete, or an artist, they are just gifted! they didnt learn to be the greatest, they were born that way. problem is in todays reality MONEY is king, so people want to capitalize on their gift, some go into gambling, some go into te academic field others become salesmen! write books, hit the circuit trail and try to sell a method which wont work for 95% of the people, but its ok they are not looking for repeat business!

have you even tried? those people did not have any outstanding memory before they started training; it was through hard work that they were able to have such a great memory. Start reading on the subject; moonwalking with einstein, rhetorica ad herennium, and a lot more. Don't be lazy and just say "i can't do it, not me" and excuse yourself from working for your goals
@jchinckley

I have to say it... you display the attitude of a loser. Keep it up and you will likely never achieve any of your dreams nor goals. Do or do not, there is no talent (that is born into an individual). This is to say that anyone and everyone that has ever displayed talent of any kind has had to work to get that good at what it is they do. No one does anything because they were "born with it." At least not well. I acknowledge that there are some people that are able to learn better and more easily how to do their "talent," but they get nowhere without hard work.

jchinckley you are so wrong!! its not funny!! you need to study more my friend ! genes,luck, gifts play a huge part in life. do you honestly think Picasso was born as someone who didnt have an artistic advantage compared to the other kids around him? do you think he just said "mum I would like to draw im gonna give it a go and see how I do "!!! NO. the kid could draw exceptional drawings as a child and he didnt even know how did it he could just do it.. like every other painter and artist in the world! they are born with that gift to draw!!! you think pavarotti, michael jackson, etc just said, ohh "I might try singing, god knows if im tone deaf or can sing in tune.. but I'll give it a crack and through hard work maybe I can be the best in the world! because after all I am starting on an even playing field just like everyone else, but through my hardwork I will be the best!! LOL you think Usain bolt is the fastest man in the world JUST through hardwork?? NO.. he was born with the right genes! you think Michael Jordan was the best because he just worked hard? NO.. first he was born with the athletic advantage over his peers, and he was born with PASSION for basketball and the gene to make him want to be the best!! you can force that thought, but some are just born with passion.. DO you believe we are all born equal and all starting at the same line with equality is just ignorant and foolish and frankly you can give people false hope!! sure reach for the stars... but to assume you will beat Usain bolt, draw better than picasso or play better than michael jordan and sing better than michael jackson through only hardwork.. is just wishful thinking.. A savant is a unique mutation in the brain.. memory can be trained of course.. but these guys selling these products, or winning the world titles were born with photographic memories.. but yes through hardwork and determination you can better yourself.. but you wont ever be a genius or gifted without being born with some sort of gift..

You're dreaming. Talent is earned, it is not burned into your DNA. If you want to be an artist of ANY kind, you must work for it. Granted those that retain their natural curiosity and sense of wonder, as well as some kind of drive within them to DO something will progress at a faster rate than those that look at the world through an attitude of bleak despair. But that's life. I will also grant that genes will have an effect on athletic performance, but if you go to those people you just mentioned it is highly likely that they will credit their wins to their mindset more than to their genes. Passion is an emotion, not a chemical - despite what chemists might say about it being a bunch of chemicals in your brain. You can choose to be passionate - or you can find something that you feel passionate about (like talent or genius not being achievable by anyone that sets their mind to it), and then pursue that thing. And this stuff about genius, you are again mistaken. It has been "scientifically proven" that the brain continues to grow connections between neurons throughout your life, if you continue to use it. Use it or lose it is true with both muscle and gray matter. And there are exercises that you can do to increase your IQ - not that IQ is really in a quantifiable way a good measurement of intelligence. Genius is largely the after effect of a particular kind of attitude. Look up books and audiobooks / seminars by Tony Buzan, Michael Gelb, or Win Wenger. And they are only the tip of the iceberg. The problem with "genius" is that most people perceive it as a lot of work and just don't want to do it. Perhaps that is, unconsciously, your reason for dismissing the potential of any man, woman, or child out of hand. If you really wish you could be like some of the people you mentioned, then your first step is to learn to control what you think about. A good place to start (although I would not stop there by any means) is a little book by James Allen titled "As A Man Thinketh." Or you could start with a more recent entry... "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success" by Carol Dweck or "Gorilla Mindset" by Mike Cernovich. With your current attitude you will never amount to anything. So change it if you can, because life flies by faster than you might believe, and suddenly you will find yourself with acid powerful regrets.

im all for positive thinking! but im also a realist! what you are saying is dangerous to people! its not realistic! if you have a person 5 foot tall and he wants to win a gold medal at the Olympics in the mens 100m your selfhelp guru books and words of encouragement do more harm than good! if girl who cant paint or draw to save her life sees a painting of rembrant and says! I want to paint like that! you gonna say, Sure you can honey! just be positive and tell yourself you will be as good as him one day! again bad parenting and bad advice! genes and Dna play the defying role in our lives.. Michael Jordan had something special from birth, its not that he was born equal! first he had the body! second he had the passion and love for the game! now , why did he have the passon and love for the game? why? why him? so many young black men in america liked basketball... but he had something in his wiring telling him, LOVE, I just love this game! cant explain it.. thats what set him apart from the black guy down the street! you can counter with. well that black guy down the street just didnt want it as badly! why? his mindset? genes and wiring! MJ was just wired to love it, something special.. like Picasso was wired to be brilliant, yes they improved as they went along, thats the evolution of them, but at birth they were born to do it, just why they are there, they had all the qualities and they realised it and went with it, and along the way used mental strength to continue on that course, through education, and perhaps gurus, but their success doesnt change the fact at birth they were given a speical quality of PASSION! determination to fullfill that passion with anything they could. they had a gift. if everyone was born with a gift the world would be full of amazing talented people. their isnt, the world is only full of a few! thats because the miracle of gifts only randomly touch certain people at certain times in life. their is only one michele angelo, picasso, pavarotti, davinci, etc.. yes plenty of great sports stars and artists today, but not that many compared to the rest of the world. you cant say, all those kids who loved football, but didnt make it to the majors was becuase they didnt try hard enough! they just didnt have the genes most of them! yes in ordinary thinking, in ordinary lives , guru books and self help videos can work to better oneself! but trying to sell it as you too can be MICHAEL JORDAN! or picasso is sure snake oil salesmen stuff!
