In this video I discussed a fascinating topic: why heart transplant recipients experienced organ donors’ memories following transplant surgery. How can a person’s memory or consciousness be transferred to another individual?
Despite decades of scientific research aided by advancing technology, we still barely scratch the surface of what human consciousness is. Early dualism theories suggest that humans and probably other animals possess a spiritual and immaterial soul that confers consciousness, thought and free will-capabilities that inanimate objects lack.
However, according to current knowledge and evidence, most scientists now believe that consciousness or the mind is generated by the brain alone and nothing but the brain. They propose a monism theory that there is no consciousness or separate soul without the brain. The mind is what the brain does and when the brain dies, the mind goes with it.
But if this is the case, then how come there have been numerous perplexing reports of organ transplant receivers claiming that they have inherited the memory, experiences and emotions of their deceased donors? To quote one of the heart-lung transplant recipients, she felt as if "a second soul was sharing my body."
These heart-transplant reports raise a big question mark on the brain-mind unity hypothesis. If consciousness is solely within one’s brain, then why does a donated heart also contain that person’s memory? Doesn’t that indicate that our consciousness is not limited to the brain; human hearts and maybe other organs can gain and retain memory too?
On the other hand, if there is a soul beyond the human body which leaves this world when the body dies, then how can a deceased donor’s soul linger with the organ receiver? Why didn’t the entire soul move on to another realm? It appears that the phenomenon of memory transfer of organs is challenging both dualism and monism theories about human consciousness.
I did some research and would like to show you what I have found. One of the interesting things is that the mysterious brainwave spikes at near-death might be involved in the memory transfer event.

Thankyou. Very interesting. I remember reading about memory transfer in the 70's. It however was between only flatworms! They trained flatworms to go through a maze. Then they chopped them up and fed them to untrained flatworms. These untrained flatworms then seemed to aquire the knowledge of how to go through the maze. It did not seem to matter which parts they were fed.

Thank you. I heard about that worm experiment too. Did they use the worms that can regenerate their heads? An experiment showed that "a planarian that loses its head still retains its learning. Somehow, classical conditioning persists even after head-chopping and regeneration, showing that somehow the planarians retained or regrew their memories." I assume that the memory transfer among these worms maybe relate to DNA/ cell memory?

Hi Tina. I’ve read that the ancient Egyptians, in their more esoteric teachings, posited that the heart, the pituitary gland, and the stomach had what could be called “seed atoms” that are part of the permanent spiritual body. The heart seed atom was regarded as a permanent energy that is always directly linked to the “Ka”, or spiritual body, and holds all the memories of its earthy incarnations and sojourns between lives in the astral world. The pituitary gland was regarded as the seat of the mental seed atom, which evolves from incarnation to incarnation, and the stomach holds the emotional seed atom, in the solar plexus chakra, and evolves the being’s emotions from incarnation to incarnation. Further reading that I have done indicates that both the Hindus and Tibetans, and possibly even the Chinese have held similar ancient beliefs.

There is controversial scientific debate about water being able to store memory. We also know that certain traits can be passed down in families and that imperceptible and traumatic external events can affect the body in different ways. I wonder, therefore, if memory is able to transfer and store itself at a molecular level in the body that is so far beyond current scientific detection. Another great piece of detective work Tina and much food for thought...

Excellent video and information. It’s amazing to me that science is finding out the details about things that have been part of human knowledge for millennia. The Bible says “God looks at the heart” and “as a man thinks in his heart..” and there are numerous other references to making decisions with your heart and the heart being the seat of compassion. As well, there are phrases we use that reference the gut as a seat of instinctual knowledge, like “go with your gut” and when something goes against our instinctual understanding of how things should be, when we see something that shouldn’t be, sometimes we say “it made me sick to my stomach (to see that)”. All these ideas were from way before we had the scientific knowledge of neuron centers existing in other organs besides our brains. So maybe “thinking” doesn’t work exactly like we think it does. Maybe the number of neurons in a certain organ is only one factor that determines the ability of an organ to “think” or “retain memories”. I wonder if cells have more awareness of the whole body than we give them credit for? Considering that all cells contain DNA and all DNA contains information in it that pertains to the whole body, not just the part of the body where that cell lived, and considering that cells know what they are supposed to grow into (for example cells in your nose know not to grow into an ear), maybe cells are more intelligent than we understand.

As you articulately stated, Both heart and brain work by electrical impulses frequencies. I hypothesize that the frequencies do not disappear they only reduce from one device to another. Energy cannot be created or destroyed (1st Law Thermodynamics) only converted to another form. What does it convert to? Where does it eventually go or arrive once the contact been disrupted? Does it continue to attempt contact to an IP address that has the same 1st octets on a similar subnet address? Just a thought...

Our cells originally came together as colonies of small independent organisms. Over time they developed synergistic and stable structures capable of replication. And over time, these complex replicating structures became capable of generating a basically identical offspring from a single cell: an embryo. So from that perspective, it's not entirely weird that each part of us may have a sort of compartmentalized intelligence, or holographic fragment of the overall intelligence, because we're really a complex colony of very, very many independent life forms that learned to live and reproduce cooperatively. It was in us from the beginning to be like that. So the whole nervous system is like a functional memory unit, and to some degree, even cells that are not specialized as neurons might contribute. We believe a sort of memory structure in the body that is not related to the nerves resides in the epigenetics system. Maybe this is how intelligence and memory evolved from the low level up to the collective organism level. So there is some kind of holographic type storage of memory within the whole nervous system, not just the brain, and possibly every cell contributes, not just nerves. The brain is more like the access terminal. So in the anecdote about the heart transplant, the brain was able to access memories holographically encoded in the new heart. I suspect it could even go beyond this, to incorporate access of "the cloud," "the collective consciousness," the Akashic records, "the unimind" ... whatever you want to call it. I speculate that maybe tiny parts of us act as antennae and as keys or filenames to access information stored in the cloud. And I think this could apply in the heart transplant case, because I'm not sure that a single, brief incident would leave a detailed, retrievable memory within the relatively small neural network of the heart. Maybe that's possible, or maybe the heart was capable of accessing keys to memories stored in the cloud. If you think about the Earth's magnetic field as being like an internet cloud storage system, then it's like the Earth itself is a macro organism, and we are like cells or microorganisms within it. And just as our own cells learned to communicate and store memory, in our role as cells of the Earth, we store memory in the collective consciousness which can be retrieved if you have the right keys. Anyway ... thank you Tina for the usual thought-provoking presentation. :)

Perhaps such memory fragments are stored outside the body as events in the ether / akashic records. Access is based on each person's unique vibrational frequency. Having a new heart alters one's VF creating a hybrid with the donor's VF. When the person's subconscious mind accesses the ether (during sleep / relaxation), they now send and receive information based on this hybrid vibrational frequency. This is how a person can connect to some of their donor's memory fragments.

The brain being connected to the entire body would, for the sake of convenience, store memories throughout the body wherever there may be areas free for such storage. Maybe... 8 years ago I was in a motorcycle accident where I received a broken neck and a concussion, when I woke up I didn't remember the accident, most of childhood memories were wiped without even a remnant of most people who were close to me. After contacting those people from my past, with a very few exceptions, those memories didn't come back. I could remember absolutely important people and events in my life, but most are gone forever. Whatever came back within the first year or so is all there is. Though I didn't give up on reactivating memories, the stimulus of traveling to places all over the US and Canada didn't bring any more back.

That is a really cool theory. I feel there is more to it generally. I find it really interesting the connection of the stomach and the brain. Especially how we as humans really cohabit the body with other organisms in a simbiotic way. I think approx. one in every 10 cells in the human body is actually human, the other 9 are not really us. They cohabit with us. But this cohabitation allows such things as neurotransmitters to work for example....basically the stomach can control the brain, or work with it. We are what we eat and drink. So taking this one step further, do these non human parts of us have a concious state and how does that present. Is that what dreams are for example. Not just our brains but the non human parts of us communicating. Is this the instinctually based part of us...non analytical...just pure awareness....much faster. Probably too way out there for most, but chinese (tao) philoshopy has known about this connection, this second brain for thousands of years.

Actually, this makes me wonder about the concept of holographically stored information in our bodies. Is it possible that memories are somehow stored non-locally like in a holographic system. If you divide a holographic film in half, each half still contains the entirety of the recorded image. Likewise, is it possible that a transfer of the heart from one person to the next would be transferring aspects of the person's memory this way

Nice deep dive into another fascinating topic as usual, thank you. I have pondered over the organ memories phenomenon and the related life after death question many times over the years. For me it all boils down to the electrical presents in our body, without that there is no life, our organs and nerve system couldn't communicate, we couldn't think, breath, move, live or be alive without that electrical presents, it's the power source that makes or existence possible. However unlike the body and organs the electrical energy within us will never die and turn to dust, it's still out there somewhere so to me the real question regarding life after death and what happens to the memories of your life becomes does it all end with the physical death of your body and organs or do your memories live on through that energy that made your existence possible? And if so can that same energy be reused in another being again and more importantly does it retain the former hosts life memories... your memories? I personally believe the answer is yes on the reuse part, circle of life, we are all stardust, etc. As far as the individual life's memory goes I think it ends up stored as an overall general impression imprinted on the energy that once made you a living being, kind of like genetic memory. Your memories become an energy form of lore if you will but it's not something most can detect or be aware of consciously. However I think it's possible those vague impressions of that previous life can be accessed by future hosts of that energy much like what the organ transplant recipients experience it is just more subtle and on a subconscious level. I also think those previous lives your energy hosted can effect a future host personality traits just like it effected yours. Which can explain why I have three brothers yet none of us are at all alike even though we do share upbringing similarities and have physical features that run in the family. So your not directly reincarnated but the electrical essence that made you possible is and that will always retain the overall impressions of you. Crazy? or food for thought you decide.

I suspect that memory is not necessarily confined to the brain. Consider the ancient brontosaurus: a creature so big that, if a predator was biting on its tail, the neural signals from the tail would take far too long to reach its brain to allow the poor creature to react against this attack.

Ive seen two different "Ghosts" in my lifetime... when I was between 10 and 11 yrs old. One was a white Semi-Translucent woman, standing in a well lit staircase landing. The other, was a 6ft tall "Shadow-man" that ran past me. It was pitch black, and so Opaque, that it blocked the summer suns rays... from pouring into the house. It ran past me, down the main hallway of the apartment, at an Inhuman level of speed. At its closest point, it was about less than 3 ft away from me. In fact, it repeated the same feat, about 6 minutes later.. when I stood in the same exact spot.. (I was sort of expecting / hoping it to do so... and it clearly did not disappoint)... My theory here.. is that in the cases where the Heart is transferred and memories are being recalled... that these Spirits have sort of attached themselves to their Heart Organ. This may be similar to stories that Ive heard, about sprits attaching themselves to Dolls, or other Inanimate objects. The question is... If this is a partial Possession... why doesnt more of this souls persona and memories, exchange? Potentially... the soul melds completely into this being.. rather than retaining a separate form. But in that process... it still manages to Imprint some of its memories, into that persons mind / brain / soul. In fact, that reminds me of how certain people experience the supernatural... such as at an Exorcism. Some have experienced seeing a persons head turning a compete 360 degrees around. Yet anyone knows, that such a thing isnt physically possible, or it would snap their necks, ending their physical lives. What actually seems to be happening.. is that the Demonic / Lost-Soul entity... is DIRECTLY implanting these false images, into the peoples minds... merging with their visual data processing, and or over-writing it completely. Some have reported not only seeing the impossible... but also Smelling certain scents, that shouldnt/ dont exist anywhere in the building/house... such as a specific Perfume, a smoky burnt smell, or a foul rotten stench. Again, these appear to be directly injected into these people minds... via these Entities. Or merely Picked up by these peoples sensitivity to these entities. They acting as the Gateway, and Amplifier, between realms. In fact, in most causes of extreme paranormal activities, there is at Least one single Host. And even if the host travels to a different place... the activity often persists.. because the Entity has followed the Host. Its not a complete Possession... but its the process in which possessions can eventually take place (when the host loses faith in their own power and control.. and gives up their rights and power... to the entity). While it might be possible that certain tissues / cells can hold a certain amount of information, and a little bit of Consciousness of its own... Its highly doubtful, IMO, that they would carry such a level of imprinted details. IMO, these cases are in fact, from a former Soul, that partially attached itself to the person getting their Organs. Even if it was a brief moment... or maybe they chose to follow this person around, for a very extended period of time.. just to observe them.

There is another way of thinking about this, the memory may not be stored in the brain or the heart.... maybe the DNA genetic cells hold a key that access time and space, and maybe memories are not local to the body but exist in a higher dimension meaning when they are written and recalled, there is a pointer that is made to that time and place, hence when you get that chill down your spine because you remember a good moment from the past, maybe you are some how accessing that time and space. This would explain, why memories that could not be recalled are suddenly able to be recalled through triggers and maybe through a quantum connection which can have infinite distance and instant recall. It's possible that all the data of our universe is accessible somewhere sometime, if you have the right key or vibration, hence the explanation of folks that see other lives other memories, or dream about places they have never been but yet in the dream feel as if its a fundamental memory. Hence the key is part of the DNA code meaning a patient that has been transplanted suddenly has two keys in their bodies.

Love this topic, but we know that our brain extends past the spinal column, there are neurons in your heart. It is no surprise that we feel "heart-ache", there is a theory that our most sacred and valuable memories are stored there. How that's decided is another discussion entirely, but there is an explanation for this in current science that makes actual sense.

All things are connected. So the heart is connected to the brain and is supposed to be the center of emotion and the gut the center of logic. The brain is connected to both and is the analytical center. So if organs are connected and each capable of storing information or the electron is capable of storing data maybe the cells are retaining information that is passed on to the new body. I don’t know that to be a fact. It’s just a thought that occurred to me while listening to this video. You are always thought provoking with your videos. Thanks again

I don't know whether it's related, but there are there are various dysphorias that are interesting. The intense desire to cut off an arm or a leg because "it doesn't belong to me" is one; phantom limb pain is another; the feeling that you are the "wrong size" for your body is another. These phenomena are dismissed as neural malfunctioning and/or mental illness, but they may indicate something about the relationship between brain waves and body image. .

I suggest a different and more radical explanation. Memory isn't "stored" in organisms at all, it abides raw in a kind of Platonic "possibility space" which is the same domain as that of mathematics. when a brain (or an organism for that matter) experiences an event, a pairing is formed between the state of the organism and the event in the Platonic possibility space. Brain states are therefore a series of pointers to these raw noumena in possibility space. I know this may sound far out on first exposure, but it actually has the potential to explain many anomalies which at present attract ignorance or ad hoc "explanations" from materialism, which simply cannot deal with them. These include, organ transplant memories, unusual genius, lightning calculators, terminal lucidity, and "past life memories". IMO, all of these things are functioning in (essentially) the same way, which is that what we call memory is really an access operation on an existential possibility space, and not a "storage mechanism" at all.

But their amazing memory abilities are not connected with their intelligence levels. It seems that the human memory is heavily associated with the brain.

Piggybacking off your thoughts, I wonder if the 500 million neurons in the gut and the 40 thousand neurons in the heart are acting as a secondary (or maybe the initial) processor of external stimuli around us like an early warning system? We have many sayings around the gut and heart like, "having a good or bad feeling in your gut", or "having butterflies in your stomach", your "heart skipping a beat" ... ect ect ect. I wonder if the body's aura is connected to these second brains and they act as the initial processing of the stimulus the aura is reacting with/against.

The author of Life said ; "thoughts proceeded out of the heart" ... our spirit is the electrical spark that tells our heart to beat. It has a mind of its own that governs our Central basis. The soul is the glue that holds the spirit to the physical body. From the Heart information travels to the brain and is the control center for the body. Judgment of the total measurement of a person value is weighed by the thoughts of the heart motives actions and deeds. Material wealth has no bearings upon the eternal spirit... when people die they take no physical possessions and is eternally meaningless in the spiritual Realm.

P.s. Tina , I agree with your final concluding statement that the heart transplant contains remnants of the last brain waves,& memories. Because the Spirit has left it stepping into the Eternal Realm.

I inow theres no solid proof but I do believe in the soul, but I dunno if another could be stuck in you? And what about the other organs? Is there pieces of your soul? I don't think so but who am I lol, I like to hear all sides. Its hard to understand. Very interesting subject! Great video, I'm impressed. I hope more people talk about this and study the phenomenon. I'm no expert, but I still enoy talking about it.

If I remember correctly, I recall hearing from somewhere that the ancient Egyptians believed that the mind and soul resided in the heart, not the brain. I also wanted to make an observation: When scientists attach electrodes on a subject's head, they sense the brain's electrical activities. Have these scientists attached a few electrodes to the chest area, to see if the brain sends a few signals to the heart, to use it as another place to store memory fragments?
@CuriousBeingbyTina
@CuriousBeingbyTina Жыл бұрын
Yes, the heart emits much stronger electric signals than the brain, so does regular muscle movements. During EEG/ brain recording, even a blink of an eye would cause noises/ artifacts to the recording. ECG/ electrocardiogram is commonly used to record the electrical signals in the heart which can detect heart problems and monitor the heart's health. I think these stronger signals come from the pumping activities; if there are weak brainwave kind of data from the heart they might be difficult to detect.

I think memories - along with all other persistent informations about the organism - are stored in an information cloud of sorts, not physically associated with the body - but hosting heavily upon it. I see neuron cells as connection points to this 'anemanistic information cloud' (or consciousness cloud if you will) where ALL information is stored AND shared by all organisms connected to it - and in principal shared by all biology alive. Of course the hosting organism is top priority when it comes to prime-time access to the 'personality cloud' - hence all the neuronic connectivity (misinterpreted as 'brain activity') in moments if high stress etc.. Lots of communication going on over the neuronic network, communicating memory information and process data to and from the holistic information cloud. It's as intimate a relation as that of the processor and memory of your computer. Cut this link. Disable the connection between the processor and the memory. The computer is dead. As dead as a host organism with dead neurons. A terminal host, unplugged from the cloud of all living. Reduced to an inanimate object, whereas the 'conscious' memory of the host organism may still reside in the soul-cloud, for 'anyone' interested in subscribing to the memory of a deceased organism - but probably still accessible to a degree by neuronic connection from previous 'clients' in an otherwise deceased host-organism, now residing in a 'new' host organism - now mainly connected to other parts of the CLOUD with the new host :-) PS: Love your presentations 🙂

the way i intuit this is that EVERY cell contains all that you are all your memories and also more than likely all the input from previous incarnated times; that would be why for example Jehovah's Witnesses and some Orthodox Jews and some Islamic Ulemas/Muftis frown upon the idea of getting spare parts from deceased folks; i intuitively also see that it would make someone be a combination of 2 people once this has happened. The cells in the body are within your etheric within your astral/mind/soul bodies so any tampering will trigger all these downloads; you will receive all of that from your new organ or blood transfusion ... it is a choice that one can make or refuse according to what they understand this means for them and their current incarnation. But one must be aware that if you take the road of "getting new hardware" it comes with all the software(s) and the contents of the Cloud too if you allow this analogy Specifically about your questions here EVERY cell contains all like a fractal item of information so it matters not from where in the body your recounting the solved murder here was awesome thank you very much for these videos. shan

Wow. I think perhaps memories might be stored in DNA and have heard about genetic memory DNA. Which reminds me of a study done all across the world which traced matriarcal DNA, which is passed down from mother to daughter only. Supposedly, the study revealed a bottleneck time when there were only 6 women on earth and every woman now is descended from them. If genetic DNA contains memory storage then potentially women carry that memory today, but cannot conciously access it. Perhaps that memory is stored as part of the morphic cloud. So, a question now about ghosts, disembodied spirits. Some seem to carry memories of a specific time frame, eg. Ghosts at the Gettysburg Battlefield in Pennsylvania, USA. Have also heard about ghosts in many other battlefields and other places. Perhaps this ties in somehow with your research on conciousness after death.

Neurites (new neurons) are constantly growing, connecting the heart with the brain. New nerve cells are always growing in the body. The things we like the most are stored in the heart...as well as the most traumatic, apparently. Close examination of the Bible indicates a literal connection between one's life and the heart. The Bible also indicates that the heart is not a reliable guide for your choices in life. What and who you love may not be the best for you. This does not stop the neurites from growing and storing that data in the heart. Those things you find the most profound or powerful in life are the things the heart will feel and reveal...Including being murdered. There are videos available showing the recording of microscopic long-term time lapsed photos of nerves growing. Why this knowledge has been hidden, I do not know. I also do not remember the video I saw recently showing the actual time lapsed photos. Maybe if you transplant my heart? EXCELLENT VIDEO AS USUAL, TINA!
