Just an observation I've made. I noticed an influx of new candle companies and candle making tutorial channels that popped up during the pandemic. There are times I revisit their channels and noticed they haven't posted anything in 6-8 months, and the websites linked to their YT channel no longer work. I mean a LOT of them are like this now. During the pandemic it seemed like everyone was opening a new business and a new craft. Those same people were seeking candle making advice. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. Lots of people, not all, but lots have closed up shop, stopped seeking candle making tips, and have gone back to their regular jobs. Thank you so much for continuing to make content!

I think social media is definitely changing. I think because there is just SO much on social media in general it’s become too much and people aren’t following the same creators on a regular basis. I use IG the most but I don’t keep up with any creators like I did when I first got on the platform.

The one thing you can always expect in life is change. Change can be positive or negative. Since you have built such a successful candle business possibly your candles will be more than enough to take the place of YT income? I LOATHE THE BUSINESS / MARKETING side!!! I’m a CREATOR and that is my heart and soul! You mentioned a very important point. You are now a Mama and will want to spend all his waking hours playing, teaching and loving him. ❤ I wouldn’t want to miss one minute because they grow so very fast! I've been thinking the drop off in views is probably due to it being a general election year. And not just the typical type every four years, this summer has been crazy for that. Keep in mind that a lot of people are going to be distracted by that. It's frustrating to be sure. I was getting monthly payouts each month of summer last year, but this year I probably won't hit that minimum for payout on my shorts until a bit into the Fall.

Hi Erica! Your title got my attention. I’ve pretty much been a subscriber since 2020. I gleaned so much from your channel, and still do from time to time too. I went from having a hobby to a business to now a hobby again until I can figure out my next move. I failed to manage the marketing & finances properly, and I became so discouraged and stopped selling. I have since been self-educating myself on channels that teach about Faceless KZbin channels or selling Print on Demand on the Etsy platform that you don’t have to physically work so hard to make. So basically my interests have just changed over the course of a year. I just wanted to chime in and share my story with you. My hopes & dreams are in soap & candle making…it’s just on pause for now. Thanks for this. I’m not a KZbinr so I wasn’t aware content creators were experiencing this lately but it makes sense. Nothing last forever and the economy is shifting (especially in the US). I love what you said about not chasing anything anymore, that your just gonna do what you do. That’s a golden nugget right there! I think that is the key for us all, but especially those of us trying to make a living out of what we create. Just “do what you do” and focus on doing it the best way you can without getting distracted by all the noise about what defines it as “successful”. I hope you’re able to continue creating YT content for a while as I really enjoy your vids but I get it if it starts falling behind the other parts of your business that make more money.

Yes I actually agree! I think creators on KZbin all end up falling victim to trying to match the performance and popularity of a previous video. It can be hard when it seems like every video you put out is ranked low. But I would much much rather be doing well in my other streams, and just do KZbin for fun to share what’s going on!

It's been great to watch your business grow, and truly when I was first starting, your videos helped get over like all the anxiety I had about starting my business because so many things I was so afraid of (like shipping candles and doing wholesale etc) you showed me step by step how to do it and broke it down for me. Seriously I don't know if I ever would have started without you metaphorically "holding my hand" through the process! I think I subscribe to about 50 Channels. Of those there are only 3 of which I watch all the videos, another of which I watch 75% of his videos and the rest the odd one or I don't watch anymore as the content gets a bit redundant. I have certainly noticed that some that I have watched definitely seem more into the KZbin income than the income from their small business as they don't seem to be making a lot of money but keep on going. And then you realize it isn't because they want to make money from their business, but make their money from talking about their business as they are chasing the KZbin money. I rarely subscribe anymore because if I watch a video I will get more videos from the content creator automatically appear on my KZbin feed. Although I don't make candles (I target the pet market) videos on marketing, shipping and actual business operations are much more interesting to me. Most businesses have the same overhead expenses so these videos get more of my attention.

Maybe you already talked about this, I'm new to your channel, but how much is KZbin a form of advertisement for your products? I learned of Faire from you and wow, how on earth do you stay on page one of that monster? I'm into candles but by page 5 I'm feeling done with it. So if my candles aren't showing up until page 6 no one will ever see me. Does KZbin views help with that in any way?

This is such a great question and something I think I want to make an I depth video on! (I’ve also always wanted to make a video talking about starting a KZbin channel for your candle business) So I think that anytime you put yourself online, it’s a form of advertisement for your business. Even though my channel isn’t technically trying to sell my candles it does indirectly in multiple ways! However, to be completely honest, when it comes to faire, I only think that there’s a very small portion of KZbin that has helped us grow on there. I think that we just ended up getting the algorithm right or something with the timing that we signed up and also the amount of work I put into everything. PS I voice texted this so sorry if it’s all messed up lol

I just started my Christian apparel business and just started making soy wax melts and trying to advertise on social media is hard, but would love your opinion and videos about growing your business. You are awesome and I love your videos, continue the good work, you have been so helpful. I watched your wax melt videos and formula on how to calculate FO so many times, but it helped me so much, so thank you thank you. I never knew wax melts were so popular. I just started making them as my friend suggested, and using good ingredients I made some with Candle science FO and I loved the smell so much, I already had a few orders from friends and their friends just from word of mouth, so I think they will sell well.
