Memorydex? What are they? Why Use them? How to store them & Why it's big trend?

Hello! New subscriber and new to memory dex cards. My friend suggested a swap and I have not heard of a memory dex (a Rolodex yes). Your video was exactly what I was looking for to explain all the ins and outs. Thank you! I am looking forward to more ideas from you! 💐Marnel🇨🇦

I repurposed my desktop (flat standing) Rolodex and started creating art on the index cards. The Memorydex is like a circular Rolodex--they were popular and useful in offices back in the day. Finding a vintage Rolodex in a thrift shop would be a great repurpose project.

Yes! The small size allows for such variety of cards. Your artistic pieces must be wonderful 🥰. Also, I have a crafty friend who loves thrifting and she was always on the lookout for the original Rolodex. They are very hard to find as many crafters want them.

Your cards are so festive and beautiful. ordered one and plan to use it to save card ideas. I watch lots of youtube and card making tutorials and I order dies and stamps but when they come I forget what I was going to make with them. Now I can print out the card and put it on a tab along with the internet address where I found the tutorial and which company makes the products, When I'm ready to use the stamps and dies I will just look through the memory Dex to find all the inspiration that I need.

I saw ONE crafter do this about 15 years ago. I searched for a rolodex, and was going to do it.There was not any way I could duplicate the cards fast enough and got fed up and gave up. Now here we are, and I'm going to do it. This time for real ! My cricut has a template in Design Space, or the blank cards are now sold by ( Is it Heidi Swapp?) anyway the cute pink one (base) is only $15. I'm in.

You can make your own using memorydex dies or the Heidi Swapp punch to cut the notches. But I did find Rolodex blanks: amzn.to/2P6MFd1. And shaped blanks on ETSY: etsy.me/3tX1ugI. I hope this helps 😉👍

Memorydex cards and the spinners were used back in the 70s and 80s to store people's addresses and birthdays, anniversaries, phone numbers etc and we had them at our homes and all offices had them. We didn't have cell phones at the time so everything had to be written down. That's why they are called memory.

Apologies for the late reply Linda. It can take btwn 2 weeks to a month. I recently ordered some dies from KSCraft and they arrived very quickly. Even when I order from a UK seller like Crafter’s Companion, that takes about a month to arrive too. Actually, I have been playing with my memorydex dies from AliEx lately too. Good luck 👍

Somewhere I got the idea of keeping craft techniques in a MemoryDex. "Gee, I did that really cool birthday card with splatters and rainbow swirls last year....what ink was that? What did I use for the splatters?"🤔🤔 It would spark creativity to see past techniques I've tried and I won't have to stumble around trying to recreate the same effect. Now...I just need to implement it. But hey, I'm new to crafting so I don't exactly have a lot of techniques under my belt. YET!😄

You are certainly on the way into ALL things crafty. And organization is a big part of it. It’s very easy to forget an ink blending color combo, marker blending combo, or that cardstock brand and color used on your perfect card. So using the Memorydex for swatching/ organizing is a cool idea. And you can definitely have more than one memorydex spinner. I saw a recent video - she stored her small dies with magnets on memorydex cards on a spinner. And it was FULL!
