Growing pains, becoming who I was made to be. I try to walk away but all my mistakes keep chasing me. I fall down when I'm alone and temptation is on display. All these stains, they cover me. Memories that won't go away. But you say you'll carry my weight. Through the storm, cover my mistakes. You say to never be afraid and hold onto the promises you made. I ran but you always chased me. I see you in my dreams. You are the air I breathe and all the walls that I built are breaking. So now I see that you're leading me onward to better things. I've seen the evidence. I've watched my heart change every day. Believe me when I say this will never ever be easy but I have seen and I believe. You hold my heart while it's breaking. I ran but you always chased me. I see you in my dreams. You are the air I breathe and all the walls that I built are breaking. So now I see that you're leading me onward to better things. You never failed me. I fell away but you never left me. You never left me. Temptation come my way. I am stronger now than I have ever been. Temptation come my way. I am stronger now and I am not afraid! I am stronger now and I am not afraid. You lead me to better things. Temptation come my way because I am more than my mistakes. I ran but you always chased me. I see you in my dreams. You are the air I breathe and all the walls that I built are breaking. So now I see that you're leading me onward to better things. You never failed me. I fell away but you never left me. You never left me.

This song came at the right time. I was dealing with some personal struggles and decided to try out the new album. The lyrics of this song, Letting Go, etc. really spoke to & motivated me (and there aren't a lot of songs that do that for me). So thanks MMF - you'll always have a fan in me! 😎

I see all these negative comments about their lyrical content how it's crap and generic mainstream?? I don't understand its not sex drugs and rock in roll so how's that? they speak about truth and faith not many bands that can reach out to the masses do this and if so they do so with wicked intentions not to try to enlighten lost souls as I think mmf are doing. in my opinion this along with unconditional are very good albums. just because they are more in your face with what they believe doesn't mean the music is shit. lastly this is definitely not radio rock I don't know where you guys live who think so but here in southeast missouri they don't play any music with screaming on the radio. I heard overlord by lamb of god and they cut out the entire screaming section of the song. was pretty excited to hear them on the radio untill the best part of the song was cut out

ron day There are a shit ton of Christian bands these days, you can't escape it anymore. They're called generic for that reason and the fact that their lyrical content had been identical for the last 3 albums. They haven't grown or changed it up at all, it's more of the same. I'm an Atheist and I don't mind listening to religious bands at all because usually they're not so in your face that the lyrics can be interpreted for many different scenarios but with MMF Matty just wants to tell you how he's a gift from God and the only one that can save you, he's a self important douche who's lyrics have gotten extremely stale and boring.

ron day the sad thing about the long repky to your comment is that this is a guy who is all about critics, about shooting down the those that actually try to do something good for the world. he basically says matty is all about himself but in music, people sing about their personal experiences or about people around him. Matty comes from a religious home and with his talent, he has the power to influences the masses. When he sings his gospel music, nobody complains but just because he is using his hardcore to do the same, its now a problem. i am religious and i dont always like listening to gospel but i love hardcore music so then this to me would be his way of influencing those like me positively. if i may ask K, what are you doing with your life, what positive do you bring to the world that influences alot. you know how many people Matty has saved through his music and yet you still have the nerve to make your shit comment and call him a douche. buddy, i think you need to sit back and look at where your life is heading cause honestly if i had the talent matty has, id also like to help influence the masses positively by showing them what God can do for them. you should maybe take his lyrics to heart and start seeing the light. God is King and MMF will always have new experiences to sing about that prove it.

Graham Atkins Same old typical deluded religious nonsense of a response. Matty hasn't saved anyone, their music may have got some people through a hard time, big deal, that's not saving anyone. He's not a hero, he's a salesmen selling a product. I wasn't just talking about his lyrics when I said he's a self important douche, I was also talking about his attitude in general and the way he carries himself now. He has let the fame go to his head and legitimately thinks he's God's gift to humanity, which is why he's slowly becoming hated by fans and bands alike. Even if I was the most selfish pile of shit in human existence I would still be able to form an opinion on Matty and his doucheyness. What do my personal achievements have to do with anything? That's terribly flawed logic there. It's like saying you can't have an opinion about movies because you have never made one, it's bullshit and you know it. Nobody cares about his lyrics in his Gospel music because....Wait for it....It's supposed to be about God and religion and I don't have a problem with Christian bands or Christian lyrics in metal at all as i previously stated. I listen to quite a few of them but Matty's lyrics have become stale and generic at best. He has not matured lyrically since his first album with MMF, quite the opposite actually and it has become boring. I don't need to reflect on anything and I sure as shit don't need God to be a good person or a positive influence on anyone. Save your patronizing bullshit for someone who gives a fuck.

ron day Matty is telling us his life through these lyrics. He's in trouble. As soon as he started to spresd a message of God and a positive message, he's been telling us he feels alone and like they're trying to bring him down. People need to shut the fuck up and listen to what this human being is trying to tell us. It's powerful. Something not right in Mattys life. I truly believe he needs help. JUST LISTEN TO HIS LYRICS. Read them as you listen to the song. He's not saying all of this for no reason.

VolumeZ Are you high? Matty writes alot of his lyrics about other people's experiences, not every song is about him personally. He's talked about this in a few interviews before, I believe he even said the entirety of The Hollow except for 1 song was written through the eyes of someone's else.

I love this album. My favorite from Memphis May Fire. Yes. I heared Challenger, Unconditional and The Hollow. But This Light I Hold is still the best album in my opinion. In my opinion, instead of doing Virus a "skillet-like track", they should have done Virus in the style of this album here. Maybe like the title track. But that's of course my opinion. I love this album and prefer this over Challenger.

Same! I wasn't initially much into this album but near the end of 2017 I was in a strange place mentally. It felt like I was re-living my past again, constantly haunted by the feelings of what could have and what should have and the fear of repeating the same old mistakes. During those times MMF's lyrics and this album in particular gave me hope and helped me find the strength to start rebuilding myself after my mind had suffered a major relapse. These songs helped me survive through the dark times when I was feeling insane and doubted everything I am. I can never thank Matty and MMF enough for making this album.

Honestly I have been a mmf fan for years now.... and tbh when i first listened to their album I thought the same as all of you..... But honestly the more and more i listen im falling in love with it more and more! Give it a chance people! It really isnt all that bad and tbh, this album is alot harder (not generic rock like om&m) then it seems. listening to it on youtube without earphones for example and to me it doea sound generic a little, but when tou listen to the actual version mastered properly and all on spotify or wtv and actually give it a chance (and stop being so fucking closed minded) it really ia a good album. I mean come on you guys really gon act like this Chorus isnt good?!?

It's not that I don't like MMF anymore and it's not that I don't appreciate their continual hard work and dedication to their own career as a band. They're awesome live, and they have great song structure. The talent is there. The musicianship is always top notch. But the lyrics are getting boring and never stray from their own themes. We get it, Matty, you'll never give up on yourself or your band and you want your insecure fans to do the same. Do you have anything else actually original to say, or are you just going to keep repeating yourself every album? That's why it's falling flat every album since Sleepwalking / The Hollow.

I dont know where you guys are from, but Memphis May Fire isnt a radio band. No station in existence plays hardcore music for the masses. Mainstream is sex drugs rock and roll. Like nikki minaj, justin bieber, miley cyrus....these lyrics have substance which is why they're not mainstream. And if they are, who cares? The more recognized they are the better
