www.MemphisAstr.... In this episode of Telescope Tips, Jeremy Veldman and Brian Hancock discuss some simple techniques for 'pimping' out your scope, for a quick and dirty observing session. It's always a good idea to have your scope ready- at home- in case the opportunity arises to do some quick observing from your driveway. Brian shows some things he adds to his dobsonian telescope to quickly get it in and out of his house, and to reduce stray light.

I use an eyepatch purchased at a local pharmacy and let's you observe with both eyes open. Just as effective as your suggestion.
