Just bought this boat - a 1990 with 180 hours on it - I thought the wake, driving, sound was very similar to our 1999 Nautique 196. The Nautique had more HP with the EFI GT40 but the retro factor on this thing is pretty amazing. It has a Kenwood tape deck. The build quality seems very good as well.

RevEleven: The best boat you can buy for wakeboarding is a Ski Nautique 2001 from the 80's. I have one, the wake is fantastic. In fact, it is such a good wake, Correct Craft used that (almost) exact hull for their Air Nautique many years later. It is a small boat and finding a good one is a challenge (wooden stringers are a problem), but a good one does command a pretty high price. I paid $8500 for mine which is an almost perfect example. $10K is not outrageous for the SN 2001.

I had a friend with a mid 90's 190 prostar and it's wake was similar to the 205 prostar when weighted, but not quite as steep or big.

A decent wake for what purpose? The wakeboard wake tends to be a little rolled over in my opinion. If you are amateur or intermediate it would probably be adequate. If you are serious about it I would likely recommend something else. I do not have experience with that model of Centurion. This boat was sold for a little over 10k as I recall. It was in very good condition. I hope that helps!

I am in the market for a beginer wake boat, my friends and are sick of going behind larson, glaston, and other Inboard/outboard boats. Anything you suggest for anything under 10k? We are really looking for a bigger wake for boarding, possibly surfing. Say I get some fat sac/ weight ballast. Would this be a decent boat for us?

This is just my opinion.....If you can find a 205 prostar built after 96 or after I think it is you will find a very good wake. It's really good when weighted. but will probably cost more than 10k. Nautique "2001" models built as far back as the early 80's for sure also have great wakeboarding wakes. They are narrower and steep, more vert wakes than you'll see with the 205 prostar. I personally used a 1983 back in college when I was wakeboarding a lot and the wake was good.

how big of a wake does it throw for a wakeboard?
