8.The Early Manhood of Prophet Muhammad SAW The early life of the Prophet PBUH is the most undocumented. We have nothing from the time he was 9-15 except for one story here, one story there. And we explained why: (i) Nobody is witnessing and recording the incidents (ii) Nobody knew that he was going to be a prophet of Allah (iii) There was no writing in Makkah (iv) Those who lived long enough to narrate the story were few Prophet Muhammad PBUH as a Shepherd Hadith is in Bukhari: the Prophet PBUH said, "Allah never sent a prophet except that he was a shepherd." The sahaba asked, "Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?" They thought he would be an exception, but the Prophet PBUH replied, "Yes, I was, and I used to tend to the flock of the people of Makkah in return for some qararit (pennies)." (Side point: this shows that most sahaba didn't even know he had a job as a shepherd, let alone the other details.) In another hadith, the Prophet PBUH saw some of the shepherd taking care of the sheep they had and said, "I advise you to find the tree of the Arak (a specific tree) and find the darker branches as this will be better for your flock." And they were shocked and asked, "How do you know this?" He said, "I used to be a shepherd and every prophet of Allah used to be a shepherd." In another narration it’s said, "Musa and Dawud were sent when they were shepherds, and I was sent when I was a shepherd in the valley of Ajyad." Prophet PBUH starts his life with the most menial, lowest paid, most difficult job in all of Makkah There is a lot of wisdoms: 1. Being a shepherd gives you the opportunity to engage in solitude and think. You take your flock and you go away and think, contemplate and infer about the purpose of life. People who are engrossed with their jobs and dunya are the least spiritual It's not a coincidence that atheism is more popular amongst the rich countries and those with highly paid jobs But farmers are more religious and contemplating. You cannot be an atheist if you are tending the flock, seeing nature etc. You will develop this Iman due to your natural fitrah. But people of the city that are immersed in materialism have harder hearts and thus find it easy to claim there is no God. 2. Sheep are similar to men. They need to be taken care of or else they will go astray. They need a shepherd. Every single animal has a personality and the shepherd understands this personality. You need to treat every animal according to its personality. Some sheep are stubborn, some are soft, some know where they are going, others just follow the pack. The shepherd knows each sheep individually and deals with each animal accordingly. This is what a leader needs to do. And thus the prophets of Allah needed this experience. 3. Being a shepherd makes you soft and tender on the one hand, and brave and courageous on the other. Soft and tender for your own flock, brave and courageous in fighting wolves and other beasts that attack your flock. Our Prophet PBUH said, "The people who own horses are going to be the ones who are full of pride, the people who own camels are going to be the ones who are full of arrogance, and the people who own sheep will be the ones full of humility and humbleness." This is indeed a factual statement. This is why Allah made every prophet a shepherd. And it's not a coincidence that the Prophet PBUH was very tender towards animals. In a hadith it's narrated that a camel came to the Prophet PBUH making noises, and tears came out of its eyes. The Prophet PBUH soothed the camel until it stopped crying. Then the Prophet PBUH asked, "Where is the owner of this camel?" A man came. And the Prophet PBUH said, "This animal has complain against you, that you overwork it, underfeed it, and you beat it! Fear Allah with regards to these animals that Allah has blessed you with." 4. It shows that the Prophet PBUH understands he needs to earn money - not just be a freeloader but rather be independent and help his uncle out.

Ma sha'Allah Shaikh. Jazakh'Allah khair. I agree withe the Shaikh its about time our communities start sponsoring group young individuals to go mecca and medina to study and to go come back and pass those teachings in the local communities that they are from this is so important. The youngsters and elders will be more responsive Insha'Allah to this. May Allah (swt) guide me and our brothers and sisters. Ameen

Unfortunately if you do that you will learn only wahabi/salafi way of Islam which is few hundred years old compared to hanafi fiq, which is the most followed in the Muslim world.

@@rtuuguyyuo127 Brother where do u think Imaam Hanafi (RA) went to for his islamic studies? And the term wahabi is made up term there is no "wahabi school of thought" or "salafism school of thought" these are modern terms made up by people to disunite the Muslims. If brothers and sisters out there want to follow a madhab of one of the 4 great imaams (May Allah be pleased with them all) then Alhamdulillah nothing wrong with that. But the problem arises when there is a clear cut evidence from the Quran and Hadith that goes against the opinion of one of the 4 madhabs. And the followers are still arrogant and staunch in going the wrong way. The madhabs are there to give u some grounding in following the religion its not free from mistakes. No one is free from mistakes except our leader Muhammed (saw). The wise and intelligent Muslim goes where the Quran and Sunnah take him not where a single imaam takes him. This is because what I said earlier no human is free from making mistakes in judgement and understanding. The imaams of Islam where never just these 4 there where many great scholars at the time. But these are the 4 Imaams who had a large popular following by Allah's will. The way of the Muslim, who wants to seek knowledge for Allah's pleasure only, is that he/she will follow the opinion and understanding that keeps the integrity of the Quran and Sunnah to its highest peak. This methodology does not mean u show disrespect to any of the Imaams, we are to love them and respect them. May Allah be pleased with them all. And the best way todo this ya Akhwan its to study the 4 madhabs fiqh and then move forward with those studies. This is not a sign of disrespect. Do u think imaam abu hanif (ra) would have a legacy he has today,by Allah's will, if he did not take his teachers lessons and move fwd with them? This is and was the way of the Salaf (meaning predecessors i.e Companions of The Prophet {saw} and the 3 generations after them {ra}) and was the understanding of Muhammed Abdul Wahab, (ra) who only wanted to establish the correct understanding of the Quran and Sunnah at the time when people were introducing innovation in the religion on the most holiest lands to us Muslims. Is that not we Muslims are about? Establish strong and correct understanding of Quran and Sunnah in our lives?. I have read many books by Muhammed abdul Wahhab and he has written nothing that incites hatred, war or anyother ridiculous anger twds non muslims or any of the Imaams. If salafiya is about seeking knowledge to establish what is correct and what is wrong in the deen and understanding of Quran and Sunnah so we can draw ourselves close to Allah by following the strongest and correct understanding of the Sunnah, just like the Companions did and just like the 3 gen after them, then akhwan all the 4 madhabs are part of salafiya. And on a side note arabs mostly follow the Hanbali school of thought. We need to grow up and be mature, we need to estabish justice in our studies of this deen and go out and study the religion and the great figures in them. Studying does not mean listen to peoples opinions of them first and only. It means to actually go out and get the books written by them and read them and study them and ask questions. Spend time studying them, the Quran and Sunnah. But more importantly before all of this we need to make sincere dua to Allah to guide us to correct understanding of the knowledge. Hopefully this link will help somwhat. islamqa.info/en/answers/128658/why-are-there-differences-of-opinion-among-the-imams-concerning-fiqhi-matters-is-it-essential-to-follow-one-of-the-madhhabs

@@f3di_84 , what you claim salafi and wahabi are doing was something imam abu hanifa already did in 7th century and gathered as much as knowledge as posible. He is the only great imam who met/was alive during few remaining sahabi. Imam muslim and bukhari were born nearly 40-50 years after imam abu hanifa's death and only collected about 2500 or so hadith that they thought were authentic, yet we still find some hadith in bukhari and muslim to be daeef. So these new sects of wahabi and salafi, who just started a hundred years ago, who do not have a sahabi to consult, nor a vast collection of hadith at their disposal nor have great teachers from sahabi, ta'been or taba'tabeen to guide them or to help verify a sunnah, claim a to be more closer to prophet muhammed's pbuh teaching than imam abu hanifa's followers. Just because the Saudi's are currently controlling Mecca and Medina does not mean that their interpretation of Islam and the shaikhs that they are promoting are correct or better. The students of imam abu hanifa have 1200 years of knowledge, books, judgments, alhumdulilah.

@@rtuuguyyuo127 Brother ur not making much sense here abu Hanifa (ra) did not collect all the hadiths nor did he possess all the knowledge, as no human being can. And again meeting Companions does not make free from errors. Abu Hanfia (ra) in his effort to attain knowledge made great strides but also made mistakes, those mistakes are not major but not the less they are mistakes. I am not here to point out those mistakes but rather I mention this as way to make u understand that all teachers make them. And can please stop using the term salafi and wahabi like i keep telling u its not madhaab or a school of thought. Just bunch of illiterate youngsters in Islam who cliam this title. The only time we use terms such "salafi" is when we have to distinguish and seperate ourselves from the mystic groups in islam. And the term wahabi has only ever been used by mostly by sufi or other mystic groups in Islam in a negative light. I get the feeling ur pro Hanafi and in ur eyes there is no other madhaab or opinion. Unfortunately this attitude is dangerous will lead to you misunderstanding the religion. Bukhari (ra) was a great imaam and hadiths ur referring to as weak was mentioned already by one of the greatest muhadiths in modern times Albani (ra). But understanding how he was critical of it is to understand how muhadiths approaches critiquing a hadith u need to understand its science. Not just read it from some thing and then regurgitate it. I am sorry Akhi please dont take this the wrong way I dont really wanna get into debate with yourselves about this. As we both learning and miskeen but ur understanding of how it works is slightly off but more importantly and whats more potent ur being anti-saudi and for me and for majority of muslims i cannot sit here talk to u about this. This is Khawarij mentality to have a rebelious attitude and outlook. The fact that u sat there criticising saudi's and their control proves this. Who else is gonna control that land and its towns and cities?...Pakistanis? Russians? Oh wait the Spanish? What are going on about. Our leader Muhammed (saw) was a Arab, the companions were arabs! Imaam Mhadi will be a arab! All these great scholars whoever learnt their deen wanted to study at Medina and Mecca. May Allah preserve these lands with the knowledge and may He destroy such ignorance in us Muslims. Lets stop the rebelious attitude that can lead to fitna. At the end of the day ask any sincere non biased muslim person where they would like to go and study thier religion no doubt all of them will say Medina University no doubt all will say Mecca for worship.

The buhairah story criticism is unwarranted as the same could be said for Issa PBUH who spoke as a baby, had a virgin birth and was under the custodianship of Zakaria, the chief rabbai, and all the jews would have known all these miracles and that he was a prophet, yet they rejected him when he grew up and preached.

Salams. The difference is, these incidents from the story of Isa (AS) are mentioned in the Qur'an and so can be confirmed as facts. And as for the disbelievers not believing, that is just one part of the criticism. Of course there are countless incidents of people not believing when they see miracles, such as the people of Thamud when they saw the camel.

@@muadhfaizan7018 , I don't think you understood me. I am saying that the jews knew of Issa's PBUH virgin birth and his ability to talk when he was an infant, yet jews rejected him. Likewise, even though Abu Talib heard he was going to be a prophet or other Christians knew he was going to be a prophet, they could easily have denied as did the jews during issa's pbuh time
