I can't lie after my wife divorced me I was wrecked. It took me 5 years and 3 months but I just 100% completely paid off my house. The true icing on the cake is I retired 2 days ago early at age 52. It truly feel freaking amazing and the sweetest revenge is living your best life. During those dark days I stayed on my purpose and stopped chasing women completely. Truth! I divorced at 32. I'm 53 and have been debt free for over 16 years. Bought a 153 acre farm at auction about eight years ago. Its got two barns, a 150 year old house with wrap around porch, a small bass pond, river frontage on the east, creek frontage on the North and 30 acres of hard wood forest for hunting. Only reason I am still working is I have been repairing all the barns and the house. Once the front porch is repaired and the heated workshop is built, I'll be cutting back from full time to contract consulting only during the winter. Looking forward to summers filled with fishing, kayaking, hunting and building timber frame cabins in the woods to rent on airbnb. Also started a 320 tree cider apple orchard with plans to make a small label of hard cider and brandy.

It was a struggle and those dark days I could only focus on my children’s well being and learning to love myself. After 5 years I began to hit my stride. Once the girls were on their own, I took on remote and challenging projects all over the world. I am retired as I am doing what I love as a field engineer, still working amazing once in a lifetime projects. I truly thank the ex every day for removing the chains and setting me free. I disagree, I think that feminism has made women more rotten than they ever would've been if it never existed, it's also turned men into pussies, I'm not saying that people with those personalities never existed before, but it was much rarer when it wasn't the dominant culture, people are sheep and base their values on those that control the narrative, so feminism didn't expose women as much as it brought out the worst potential in women through indoctrination and the normalization and rewarding of bad behavior.

The internet has really opened a lot of men's eyes to female nature. It has been a blessing in disguise. Men used to get into relationships and marriages not expecting the hell that it would inflict upon them. Men were expected to tolerate toxic and abusive female behavior for the sake of keeping the family together. My grandfather was stabbed with a butcher knife by my narcissistic grandmother back in the 50's but he held on as long as he could tolerate until she chased him off to leave my mother and her siblings to the physical and emotional torture she put them through. The courts were biased back then as well. This emancipation from the abuse of women will only spread further. The sad thing is that women are doing it to themselves as well. That's the way she wants it, that's the way she gets it. As for me? I live like a king as a single man and have no regrets in life. I answer to no one and am free man.I live every day to the fullest and don't take my freedom for granted. If you find a good woman, good for you, but I wouldn't count on it.

I don't know if the "you can start from nothing and be ok" speech is something that many of us(myself included)ever really paid attention to. My ex lied to the cops about me hitting her and I ended up in jail for a few days. The county forbid me from going back to the place we shared, even though she left. I was homeless and jobless. It wasn't until I pieced my life back together and looked back and said "damn, that was easy". Been about 10 years and I've got my own home, full custody, boat, truck, multiple snowmobiles and money to go on vacation a few times a year. Amen, on sites like these they are mostly going to attract people with ONE type of experience. Because you get burned doesn't mean ANYTHING about a whole gender. It means something about ONE person. And of course a lot of people have the idea that they play NO part in a relationship falling apart. How many times do these fall into the 'he said, she said' blame game. At sites like these we DON"T hear from the happily married people or the people who broke up but just don't take it personally. Hell, who HASN"T broken up with somebody. But thats what marriage is supposed to be, and thats what it usually is. If it didn't work out, thats sometimes life. A lot of these comments seem to be SO 'me' focused that I can suspect that in the marriage it may have been the same, and thats always a problem. It goes both ways.

20 years ago after my divorce I literally had nothing but what I could stuff into my 2 Army duffel bags. Took a long time to rebuild my life, but I did it, alone without any support. The biggest and most valuable lesson I learned from that experience was to find myself a "tribe", a handful of people I could trust to have my back and who I would defend without thinking. Just a few people like that in your corner means you can survive anything and it's a feeling I haven't felt since the military. Been Monk Mode for 20 years and while I've found a few that I thought might be worth a shot, every time within 60 days the mask slips and their true face is revealed. Wayne Dyer said it best "You can never truly be lonely if you like the person you're alone with." Lol coulda gone either way and if her name is Tabby oh fk man good luck. Girl came in a bar i was temp managing and stripping, at like 14 years back now when came in with one of the other guys bragging on pulling her bout half his age.., had warned him in training not to do that.. didnt listen. Kills the tips and always end up with another dude.. didnt mention was usually me or the scummy pretty boy that was prob contagious by then. All the straight dudes just trippin over their dcks for her, tattd up petite hottie all boobs and butt barely 18. Let en all make a fool and just sat back laughing. Im out smoking and she walks out rolling her eyes and all i had to say was "nice tats" and go back to my convo not caring. She thinks for a sec "Wait did you say tats or tits?" "Huh, oh tats whoever did that fresh fairy had steady hands.. but now that you mention it both" and 20 mins later shes askin me if i can take off and get her outta there. Spends the weekenf shacked up shagging and givin her a ride home waits til im pulling in the driveway to smirk and tell me oh yea btw my dads the former biker leader (grew up close enough to already know which) goes by Maddog. 😮 thats... something ya warn more than 10 seconds before. Oi. Didnt expdct me to shrug, walk up to him, shake his hand, hit it off with him and not miss a beat eye to eye not intimidated at all. 20 mins later hes givin me the gun show routine and im just like... dude those gold plated derringers are sweet, the fk you get em? And he cocks his head like.. "youre not the normal kinda dude are ya, you got a spine on ya and talk straight... come by saturday for the bbq, i like you. Best thing shes drug in in a while. fair warning tho she loses interest every week or so." Yea i figured. Guy she came in with is still pissed at me. 2 or 3 weeks later hes the one tells me her prison arms ex was over that i saw a glipse when i dropped her off, takes after her mom like that. Thanks for not causing a scene i saw ya toss her stuff out the car on the way out. ..but id have been curious if ya could take his mouthy ass tbh.. and prob woulda been laughin if ya had walked up and clocked him when he stepped out to start sht. You missed the part where i came out behind him cocking the hammer and he turned lil btch. ..Yea knew was something the way she instigated a dumb fight suddenly btchy. ..Just like her mom.. but dont be a stranger, ya good in my book. 3 or so years later she hits me up and has a kid the same dude whos back in the slammer, been strippin and got into smack.. tryin to sweet talk me like.. nah, ill pass. Not into spoiled goods and drama but tell your dad i said hey for me. Think once she realized she wasnt getting drama and attention or money from me out of it she went back to dropping her act that first round and i wasnt gonna play it, id just walk off or tell her theres the door then. Fun while lasted but twice in a week getting so smashed she wet the bed was a bit much even without the drama so wasnt worth fighting for her to say the least esp after tried to tell me might be pregnant for all of a day til that started. Nah girl nice try. Didnt wanna find out how bad she got when something wasnt about her. Didnt even bother tellin her id already knew she was a walking red flag when she hit me up on FB when i still had one. havin stopped by a few times to have a beer with her dad prob bout the time she was off strippin or hiding actually bein pregnant. Heard hed passed a couple years back and couldnt help joke he finally got away from her mom at least.

I'm happily divorced. A friend recently asked me if I was afraid to die alone. I said "you mean in peace, no, I'm good with that". He was shocked and said, "I never looked at it that way". Life is all about choices. You can choose to be sad and lonely because you don't have a girlfriend or wife, or you can choose to be happy and free to do as you please. You can simply make a choice in attitude, inturpitation and optimism. For every loss, there is a void. Every void creates an opportunity. Don't be so distracted by the loss that you over look the opportunity. I nolonger have to yield to an unhappy wife. Now that I don't have to be home, I found a job that requiers me to travel. I love to travel. I work more and as a result, make more money. Wow! I like money. I'm happy, I'm having fun, and I'm making more money than I ever have before. I was married for 15 years, and my wife walked out on me to be with another man. Did I wallow in self pity? No!, I just went about my normal day to day life, and I am a lot better off being single, than I was being married. We had a daughter, and my only regret was that I wasn't able to spend more time with my daughter, since she ended up living with her mother. I got back at my ex-wife, by being the best father that I could be to my daughter. As my daughter was growing up (she was 9 years old when my wife left me), I bought my daughter a lot of things, like computers, books that she wanted, clothes, etc., then, when she was 12 years old, I bought her the car that she wanted. I also tried to spend as much time as I could with her, because I love her so much and wanted to be with her. When I flew to California to see my brother, I took my daughter with me. I told her that she could have Christmas parties at my house, and when she wanted to do that, I bought a lot of snacks for her friends to eat. When she turned 16, I took her to get her driver's license, and when she passed the test, I titled the car to her, as well as gave her a cell phone and a credit card, in the event she broke down and needed assistance. When my daughter went off to college, I bought her a new VW Cambrio (a VW convertible), that my daughter wanted. I later discovered that this was the exact car that my ex-wife wanted, but couldn't afford since her new husband didn't make as much money as I did. A year later, my daughter saw a new Cambrio, that was the upscale model of the Cambrio that she had, and she liked it, so we traded in her Cambrio on a new, upscale model Cambrio. My daughter said that her mother (my ex-wife) would be jealous of our daughter because my ex-wife couldn't afford a car like that. I told my daughter to tell her mother that, had she stayed married to me, I would have bought her a car like that. My daughter and I have a great relationship, where as my daughter and her mother....not so much. My daughter knows that I will be here for her for whatever she might need, and that her mother will not. As for wallowing in self pity, well, that's not me. I just look at things in a very logical way, and decide what is the next course of action, then I take that action. I am old now (70 years old), and I am content with my life. I have a nice house, nice cars, a beautiful daughter, and a decent pension, so life is good for me....for as much life as I have left.

Maybe an SSRI will help. It wasn't until my doctor found the right one of those for me that I thought "Aha. This is what normal must feel like." Has worked for me for 20+ years. I'm pretty happy right now. That wasn't the case for years. I hope you find a solution. BTW, my cat helps a lot. He's not only my buddy and friend, he is also leash trained and I've made lots of new friends walking him in the neighborhood. If you do this, spend all the effort on the cat and what she needs. The rest will follow.

Please for the love of God do not go on SSRI's. Do not mess with your brain chemistry using drugs. I've seen far too many people get totally messed up, it seems to especially make women crazy, which many many of them are on these days and the reason we are having such trouble with them. That stuff is the devil. People on that stuff are high all the time from it and think things are great, but to onlookers they often seem unbalanced and nuts. I can tell instantly when someone is on an SSRI, and those people drive me crazy, I can't stand to be around them. There is also serious risk that it will totally break your brain forever with major psychological side effects. Please don't do it. And lol don't become a cat person. Maybe that is the connection between SSRI and cat ladies lol. Go get some exercise, take the right vitamins, eat better, find contentment, find more hobbies, you don't need to be on a happy high all the time. Just be content with life and who you are and the best you can be without breaking your brain with drugs.

You should hear the divorce stories from men who had wives that went on SSRI's. It was like they were living with aliens they didn't know anymore, and they were crazy manic, and cold and seemed even evil, because that stuff alters the brain so much.

it took me 5 years to adjust after the divorce and I almost didn't survive the depression My advice to men going through this depression: focus on work, start new hobbies, and try new things, especially new social things. I went into auto racing, HPDE. I spend every waking moment doing something with my hands so that I don't have time to sit around and think, and most importantly, time to get depressed about losses in life. as a result of this increased focus, I have vastly increased my income, and I have several hobby race cars that I work on. I spend every item moment either in the garage or shopping for parts or talking with other mechanics online about upgrades. this is absolutely crucial for a man: you must get out of your head and use your physical body in a productive activity. If you have an IT sort of job in a desk, then it's you absolutely must have hobbies that put your hands and arms to use making things or fixing things. If you don't know what to do, just try a bunch of different things. KZbin is filled with tutorials on wrenching on cars. I don't have time to get depressed anymore. I rarely think about failed relationships anymore. I don't miss the trauma of dealing with a difficult woman everyday.

I've never been more happy than being able to decide and rely on myself for my happiness. It took a few years after the divorce to realize that I can only make myself happy and not someone else. I had to take advice and really think what made me happy and it wasn't anyone else but doing what I loved was what made me happy and not having someone there to keep knocking down my decisions in chasing my goals. This was 13yrs ago. It took 5yrs to realize that being single was better than being in a relationship.

The hardest part about my 20s was unemployment. I got an engineering degree with honors, but couldn't even get a job as a garbage man in the USA after I graduated. I lived overseas for a couple years teaching English, and then worked in warehouses in the USA for a couple years (and messed up my joints from overwork) before I got my first engineering job at the age of 30. I'm still paid less doing engineering work than I was paid loading boxes at Walmart. There are several instances where I would have been homeless if my parents hadn't let me move back in with them. How is a young man supposed to deal with this situation? Having no savings at all for the first 10 years of my adult life, despite having done everything I was told I should have done, really took a lot of options away from me. I think in some ways, life is harder than before. I thought repeatedly about subsistence farming, but my parents wouldn't let me use their land. And how can I go get some land which is owned by somebody else? At least during caveman times, there weren't people laying claim to literally every single square inch of land, so that you can't work for yourself, and also refusing to hire you.

@@robertd9850 You are one of many people who are sure they know something, but are wrong. There is a massive surplus of engineers and it's basically impossible to get your first entry level job unless you know someone. I saw an interesting infographic once that showed that roughly 90% of new engineering jobs are filled by only 1/3 of engineering graduates. About 1/3 go into other lucrative fields (such as finance or management), and the remaining 3rd get stuck in undesirable jobs like retail and manual labor. I was stuck in the 3rd group. I was a fool and focused on my studies instead of networking. I probably would have been better off getting a trade actually. It's even worse in some other countries. You can see lots of articles about how 80% of Indian engineering graduates are unemployed. There is supply and demand in everything, and if you oversupply anything (including engineers), the price will drop.

But I’m not playing a game and not interested in playing one with women. I can't disagree with anything said. I would point out something said though that I disagree with a bit. That phrase "the best revenge is living a good life" means she is still living rent-free in your head. I admit it can be difficult to not think about a girl after a bad breakup. I am 65, I was cheated on over 40 years ago. It threw me for a loop that lasted for years. In my case, all I had to do was call her and I am sure she would have come back. I knew better! When she cheated I was at the lowest part of my entire life. I was basically broke. I was eating if I was lucky 2 meals a day. One of those meals was a can of sausage and some crackers with water. I lost almost 40 pounds. By the time I snapped out of it, I weighed 140 pounds. Folks I am 6 foot 2. My life today was built one day at a time. I did what I did to survive. I also did it 100% for me! About 10 years later I had myself "snipped" I knew then I was never going to be a dad and decided I would NEVER allow a female to baby trap me (even though 2 did try). Revenge is for losers, just make your life better for YOU! One last item! I give you Vanna White as an example! Yes, that same Vanna White that turns letters on that game show! Would you pay to see her? Well, she was in a Playboy spread! I believe it was May 1987!
