Interesting that there seems to be a rise in films depicting younger men and older women, ie. the Age Gap film. For so long, as soon as a woman hit 40, she seemed to disappear as a romantic interest in film. I'm amazed and pleased to see this kind of ageist-sexist stereotype overturned. I don't know, as it's not been my experience, but I'm more interested if a man's keeping pace intellectually as well as emotionally. Sadly, I didn't know this, but my ex complained to others that he always thought I was "too much" (intellectually) for him. Frankly, only now I see that I might have been wiser to connect with someone who felt better about himself and was a better match for me.

When I was young, elementary through college, I found myself wondering what it was that others had, that I didn't have. It wasn't until I was in my 30s that "it" was confidence. Unfortunately, I had been gaslighted my entire childhood. I had no idea how to have confidence in myself and had no council on how to achieve that confidence. I'm 74, and still, women are still treated as unimportant, except for housecleaning, sex, and told not to speak up. I speak up now, but I have not mastered how to get my point across well, so I have withdrawn to work on that skill. I'm looking for help with that.

That's where confidence comes in. To bring your point across. I learnt that in my early thirties. Was always walked over by people and taken advantage of. Soon after I had my son I had more confidence and became more assertive. I learnt how to say no. My age is actually the reverse of yours 😊 You just have to speak up and not shy away from what it is you want to say. When with a group, let the others finish what they have to say, then you voice your opinion, loud and clear. You also need to be at the stage where you don't care what people think about what you have to say. Just say it. You will feel the freedom that comes with that when you do. I’m 54 and get a lot of men between 40-65 trying to get my attention on my dating profile and I have no body parts exposed. I do keep myself young at heart by working out, having hobbies, taking care of my appearance, having a sense of humor and a good attitude. I leave old relationships and their issues in the past and give each new guy I talk to a brand new slate and don’t punish them for my exes actions
