Arrangement is by Gordon Langford, an Englishman! Standard Brass Band stuff, the type of thing every bandsman would know, it was done in the 1970's

Wales has rarely been ruled by one person. As I recall Gruffudd ap Llywelyn was the last- and perhaps only- ruler of the whole shebang to be called a king. And he was actually called "king of the Britains," not the Welsh. Cymru, or Wales, traditionally was divided between the principalities (sometimes called kingdoms) of Gwynedd and Powys. Llewellyn the Great founded the independent principality in the time of King John.
