Gallery of historic photos from primary sources within the family of Frank & Jesse James, highlighting the James men directly related to the legendary brothers. A great resource for making image comparisons with claimed Jesse James photos. for grasping the actual genetic physical characteristics of the James family, or for identifying the physical differentiation among various lines of the Jesse James family.

My great grandfather, William Hensley, died in 1969. His mother was the first cousin of Jesse James’ mom. They were all born in West Plains, MO., including my grandma, Ola Mae Haff.

I have childhood friends (Mother, daughter, Son and their daughter) that I was raised with who are biolgical family members of the James family. I would like to point out that the few I know are the most humble people I have ever got to know. Very respectful and really fun to be around. I miss them loads as they moved back near Dallas Texas. Chris had become one of my martial arts students after I came back from the national team. He works as a accountant today and Holly works as a x ray technician at a hospital. I cannot believe I found your videos at all, What a honor and blessing this is, thank you so much for the uploads

Apparently there was an Indiana line of the James family, as well as the famous Missouri line. My great grandfather passed away at 99 in the 2000s, and was a James (his surname) from the Indiana line. Kearny, MO is exactly due west of where my great-grandpa's family settled in Indiana. He died when I was getting out of h.s., and was as lucid and clear in the mind as could be til his dying day. We have a photo of him in the 1920's with my great-grandmother and grandmother. He was a spitting image of Jesse James in certain facial features (Jesse had sharper cheek bones) around the same age. This photo of Jesse James in particular. www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/james-life-and-death-jesse-james/ If anyone is curious, I will take a photo of the photo I have of my great-grandpa and email it to you.

The nose is the trademark for many early pictures. Later becoming more refined. Fascinating
@EricFJames
@EricFJames 3 жыл бұрын
The noses of Frank & Jesse James, and Jesse Edwards James Jr., in particular, reflect their genetic physical inheritance from their mother Zerelda Elizabeth Cole and the Cole ancestral family. Going back in James ancestry from their father Rev. Robert Sallee James and among other James lines of the family, the genetic physical inheritance of the nose is more graceful and aquiline. This hereditary nose is particularly evident in their royal ancestry, in particular King James and King Edward "Longshanks." You raise a good point. On our Stray Leaves website, we should probably do a feature story on this. Back in 2013, we did one such article on the James family's hereditary ear formation. ericjames.org/wordpress/2013/04/22/attention-james-family-send-me-your-ears/

@@magnacartasamadams8189 Lord, isn't it still going. The Confederates got a bum wrap in the historical revision of things. I'm no apologize for slavery as an institution by nature or belief, but people forget there wasn't John Deere in the way we know of it now, back then, and not all slave owners were sadists. Considering the time, some slaves were likely in a better position than wage slaves now. That sounds like I'm being an apologize, but rather, it's to not judge a previous era by today's standards. As is mentioned in other accounts written of them, Frank would recite Shakespeare and these people would of known more about the human condition and human nobility than any SJW or "progressive" of today. Push a person of noble belief too far and into a corner and they will bring down the wrath of fury on their enemies.

There are a lot of stories around that Quantrill and his men would sometimes winter around my hometown of Sherman, Texas. The former guerrilla who was the inspiration for the character "Josey Wales" was living in Sherman. On his return from a "business" trip to Dallas he was shot in the back around Van Alstyne by another former guerrilla, for the reward money.

my family are from Pembrokeshire, Wales...my late father used to call Jesse, cousin Jesse...there is a family resemblence, anyone on here know if his forebears are from Wales?
@EricFJames
@EricFJames 3 жыл бұрын
Through royal ancestry, the Jesse James line of James reaches back to Caernarvon, Wales in the era of Edward I. The popular myth that they come from Pembrokeshire, Wales has never been proved, even by official genealogists resident in Pembrokeshire. Numerous James lines from Pembrokeshire all have DNA profiles that differ distinctly and significantly from that y-chromosome DNA of the men of the Jesse James family. The term "cousin, Jesse" has been widely popularized throughout the post Civil War era by folklore. The term coming to mean sympathy with the Southern cause more so than any direct kinship with Jesse James. Literally, thousands of claims of kinship with Jesse James have been made, but not proved. The Story of our James and their European origins first appeared on our family website almost 25 years ago: www.ericjames.org/James_European_Origins.html We continue to research, write, and report our genealogy and history on our website Stray Leaves: ericjames.org/wordpress/

+Eric F. James Thanks, enjoyed the article and Goodland is 2 hours from me. It's unbelievable how far the James family can be traced back and all the information there is on your family. Wish I could say the same about my family tree. I have one more question and I haven't watched the video in awhile by the History channel when Jesse's grave was opened up in 1995 so my facts might be off. I think it said his skull didn't have an exit wound from being shot but there's a hole in the wall supposedly from the bullet, is that right?
@EricFJames
@EricFJames 6 жыл бұрын
Aside from the circus created by the 1995 exhumation, the family stands in the belief the bullet entered the rear of his head and exited at the eye. No bullet is known to be retrieved.

Hello to the James Family very well respected folk's. Daniel James the uncle of Jesse James had a daughter Elizabeth James. She married Anthony Nicely Summerset Country Pennsylvania. Elizabeth James Nicely was Jesse's first cousin. The entire James Gang came to the Nicely home often they even worked in the family store when hiding out. The locals had no idea Jesse James was very well liked and connect. Jesse James is one of Americas Greatest Heroes. He took on the evil Railroaders & Bankers... He stoled from the rich and gave to the poor. 2 Nicely Brothers the sons of Elizabeth James Nicely and Anthony Nicely. Robbed and killed a man named Herman Umberger. They both hanged. They both never admitted to killing the man. I believe they would have had they done it. Also something fish about a boy named Cain Nicely... Cain moved away charged his name to Cain Morrel.
