Something I’ve realized: I can watch 1000s of these videos and do everything right to attract a man. But I can never do his part for him. If he is scared of being close to someone, or of trying to have a real relationship, or of communicating anything about his inner world to me, or of the control he feels he loses by letting me matter to him….I can’t be brave for him. I can’t put that on myself that if I was better, then he would face his fears and step up for me. Honestly this revisits a wound for me from when I was a child-I thought that if I was a perfect little girl, then my mom wouldn’t give me the silent treatment anymore and my dad would pay attention to me instead of the TV. It feels confusing to believe that I am loveable and yet people that I am trying to love don’t choose to love me back. I comfort myself with the knowledge that God has this same problem. God initiated with me. He reached out to me when I was ignoring him. I am so thankful for God’s love especially in times when humans I care about turn their back to me and not their face.

Don't dwell on this. Stay focused on your close relationship with the Lord. Ask Him to bring your husband to you. Never pursue a man. Wait on God and be your best self as a daughter of the Most High.

So I have an example of dating a guy who actually BEHAVES as if he wants a relationship, but TALKS constantly about how he needs a long time before committing to anyone.
@SusanHamer
@SusanHamer 2 ай бұрын
You don't say how long he has behaved. If he can sustain for 6 months, you can relax. They can lie with their actions too...but not for long. When the new wears off and he believes you are hooked, the real behavior comes out. What you must do is live your life with joy. Continue to see friends or family, take a class, keep doing you. See him, yes, but do not drop YOUR life. After 6 months you can start to relax. After that, you can begin to negotiate the level of commitment you want. But I had an uncle who was a great guy, good for women to date. He told a girlfriend he didn't commit easily. SEVENTEEN years later, he dumped her and married someone else. She should have kicked him to the curb after 18 months to 2 years. THAT was enough time
@anetak.9494
@anetak.9494 2 ай бұрын
@SusanHamer that's good advise. I do think that everyone has to establish for themselves how long they are willing to wait. Some may say 3 months is enough, other would say 6 months is good, others may say not defining it at all is also cool. I thin 6 months is the magic mark for me. I ain't got time for bs.

I’ve learned the hard way that you can be the best partner in the world to a man but if he’s not who HE needs to be, YOU will end up with a shattered ❤️, not him. I had a charming, super-confidant, motorbike-riding Alpha male who turned out not only to be an Anxious avoidant, emotionally unavailable Narcissist who abandoned me out of the blue the day after my parent died but whose life has probably gone on as if I were never part of it, whereas for me the shock of it cost me half my hair and sent me on an early menopause aged 40. I should have ditched him years earlier.

This video speaks to my struggle with limerence, the "infatuation on steroids" that happens to some of us who grew up with intermittent neglect from our parents, and grew addicted to that "now-she-loves-me, now-she-doesn't" roller coaster of dopamine hits. I now know all this, and I'm STILL vulnerable to it. I'm struggling with limerence over a married man with whom I had a short-term working relationship. I did nothing to feel guilt for; I sensed he was going through a dry spell or rough patch at home, and was toying with me verbally to distract himself. But two and a half years later he's STILL taking up real estate in my brain, while I date, volunteer, take dance classes, travel, etc. I know I'm grieving the loss of my late beloved husband and it makes me vulnerable, but ... I so look forward to regaining the peace the first woman mentions, as I had with my late darling mate, iinstead of returning to these intense ups and downs I long ago learned to seek out.

I think many men can’t handle today’s woman. We have a lot more responsibilities, and have to be way more in our masculine energies to even be taken seriously, protect ourselves and survive. If men could take the time to understand this pressure, and still be brave enough to come in and match that energy by showing us that they are protectors and capable, we WILL dare to be more vulnerable! But men don’t even dare to even try with women who “have it together”. They go into their ego too fast. “What can I even offer her? etc. This is ALSO why they don’t reach out sometimes. It’s not as black and white as it comes across here. But there needs to be more understanding also from the masculine side!!!

Exactly the economy just gets worse and worse and women have to work just as much as men and it’s especially hard for single mothers and fathers! Men say women are acting masculine how about they respect women that work hard, respect goes both ways. Men need to set aside their ego and stop being intimidated by strong women. Only a strong mature man can handle a strong woman. If a guy isn’t making efforts cut contact and move on. Billions of men out here and no reason for a woman to chase a man ever, don’t sleep with any man right away that will definitely weed out the toxic ones!

Here is the problem many women just don´t see, and I add myself to this group too, because this was me. Women who have abandonment trauma, sometimes, can not be attracted to that guy that WILL give them those things that they want. They friendzone him in favor of mr. string me along, because whomever caused the abandonment trauma, usually and in my case it was my dad, did those same crappy things, or just left altogether. And what we are really trying to do is win daddys love, in the form of some guy who treats us poorly. If we can get THAT guy to love us, THEN we can prove to daddy, that we are loveable. And those guys who already believe we are lovable and want to give to us, we cant be attracted to that because there is nothing to prove or change. Sounds toxic? yes, it is. Thats why healing that trauma is so, so important. I bet nearly every girl here who is saying men don´t step up, they dont answer text, and so on, I bet each one of these girls has a guy in her friend zone who WOULD do those things, but she can never accept a guy like that until she heals the root of the problem.

Best thing i can say is be yourself act on intuition and dont rely on someone else to define your self worth and be okay being alone so when someone is attracted to you soul mate or twin flame or at least someone you have chemistry with you are simply two individuals learning and growing and sharing beautiful moments together. Dont find love find yourself and you will attract love😊

My biggest struggle has been to understand the line between a narcissist and a dismissive avoidant. How do we tell someone they have to work on themselves without breaking up with them? How do we address them in a feminine matter and tell them they have childhood traumas without offending their masculinity....because me telling him that only makes him feel like he is not enough for me. I thank him in a feminine manner but "giving" him too many complements pumps him up to the point that "criticism" destorys him instantly. What should i do? Should i let go of him? He's more in his masculine energy when hes away from me...the energy thing is a hard tango...dancing back and forth

I understand the concept but I think the point of staying with someone toxic is about gaining validation. You want to see your partner happy so you do whatever you can even if their requests are absurd. You'll go out of your way to show them you're willing to make sacrifices to make them happy. The only problem is that all they see is how easily manipulated you are and they take advantage of that.

Exactly! Keep your options wide open cautiously and have a checklist of what you are looking for, make sure you get to know them. Ask the right questions and ask a lot of questions. Never meet a man you don’t know at his house, first few in person dates should always be in public. Too many men out here got stds, never sleep with them too quickly and always use protection! Women are literally getting killed out here by men they meet online! When I was single I followed the 2-3 month rule, if I met a man online I’d talk to him online atleast a couple weeks before I gave him my number, if he was respectful then I’d give him my phone number and we’d chat on the phone for a few more weeks, when I felt safe and ready to meet him I would meet him in person in the day time or afternoon in public, I dodged many bullets by taking my time and not sleeping with these men too soon. It takes atleast a year to get to know someone so any man rushing things is a huge red flag! There was a man I was talking to for about 3 months everything appeared to be going good we met in person and quickly his true colors showed and he was being verbally abusive and controlling to me. I had to block him and he continued to stalk me with a fake account! Long story short he was completely unhinged, just goes to show even after 3 months of a guy seeming to be ok it can be a total facade! I’m not trying to scare anyone but I have a 20 year old niece that was a victim of an abusive narc but thankfully she got away! Do not trust anyone and make them earn your trust. If a man isn’t willing to take things slow he isn’t worth your time!

In life as i grow older i realize that there are standardized behaviors from where we can set a pattern and work around it. But there's also a huge number of variables. So what you apply in one relationship might not work in another. Most of all if we need to think so much about it and have to play a role instead, how can we be ourselves? - bottom line of relationship lessons for me is that you should not accept that someone else loads you with the burden of being responsible for their happiness neither should we do the same. There's so much to say about this kind of subject but we all walk our own path....

Not just that, it seems that the reverse cultural shock of trying to fit in civilian life is what pushes vets over the edge, not so much war itself. Modern society destroys human relationships worse than serving in the military.

I think the switching all your contacts to the same name is dumb because it's gonna keep giving you false hope till you get really annoyed with it. Your toying with your own emotions. It better to go about your day find things to get involved in physical or crafts you enjoy not boring things that leave you time to your own thoughts. Then you'll forget plus if he does call or text your busy n you leave him to wonder. Guys are simple if they want something they go for it. Even if not for anything else but the chase itself.

@@danilaroche1156 I agree somewhat. Men should initiate sometimes and watch for reciprocal action. Men shouldn't encourage any spoiled or deadweight behavior; those who do are too worried about something like losing her, and are not balanced. Same goes for women.

Soooo, my honey and I were getting along great. Sex wasn't bad but I was having problems due to being 64 and no sex for 15 years and that was getting way better until one night he told me to get out of my queen bed in my motorhome to a less than twin in his camper. I said no That's all it took. He got angry and things went downhill from there. Last week he bought me a pool for my home and then out of the blue he said he wanted me to give him head, even though he knew I didn't do that. Two days later he dumped me! Please explain ruining a great relationship, in my eyes or something so shallow seems strange to me. I have had long term relationships with several very good looking men, and none of them dumped me over not giving head. AND, HE IS HOMELY. But I fell in love with him for his personality, and not his looks this time around. FYI, he is bipolar
