It was over ten years ago. We genuinely appreciate each other as people, but weren’t in a place to start a relationship. She had just gotten out of a bad one and at the time, I was pretty hurt that I got turned down. I held on to that affection significantly longer than I should have and felt nothing but anger and frustration. I started working it out in the gym, and took up boxing. Eventually, I was able to move on. It was a long journey, but I moved on. She never tried to use me or take anything from me so it was easy to stay friends after I got over my crush on her.
