Athing Mu, and Keely Hodgkinson, were 18 when they took Gold & Silver at the Olympics 22 months ago. College freshmen age and the best in the world. Sumner ran the flat 400 in 45.7 IN HIGH SCHOOL. That's just 0.2 slower than Rudisha's all-time 400 PR, which he ran when he was 22 years old. And Sumner is significantly smaller and lighter than Rudisha, which may serve him well in the 800.
@crimsonreaper835
@crimsonreaper835 Жыл бұрын
@@randyevermore9323 You raise an excellent point. Amongst 800m runners, Sumner is an exceptional standout in terms of his basic sprint speed (a 21.55 200m, and a 45.7 400m as you said), which when coupled with his clear room for continued physical development, bodes well for his future upside in the event. I wonder if he'll continue to carefully increase his mileage throughout the seasons or if he'll stay with low volume. With years of thorough aerobic development he very well may be the first man under 1:40.
