Men's -96kg | World Weightlifting Championships 2023

I just checked the Paris rankings Abokahla is close to qualifying in 2 categories. He’s already 8th with 375 in the 89s. The 387 he registered here as a 96 leaves him 12th in the 102s just 2kg from qualifying. Pretty freaking impressive! He’s already built like a tank at 96. I can’t imagine what he’ll look like if he puts on 6 more kg of muscle.

A nice win for Abokahla clutch cl&jk on his last attempt. Won made him earn it cause was successful on his last attempt as well. The Iraqi Al Lawi is an outstanding technician. His snatches don’t seem to go above his waist but he’s got a terrific low bottom position and times them perfectly. The other Egyptian Hassan lifted well and it will be interesting to see how close he gets to junior records the next 2 yrs. Got a ways to go though, Tshinkatsou’s 180 and Meso’s 225. He could get the 102 record easier as it’s only 214 I believe.

Is the 89kg category stronger than 96kg? 210 C&J in the 89s I expected the 96kg lifts to be more impressive tbh😬

You guys keep repeating that those guys are so strong but somehow they are not coming even close to the results of the very competitive -89 category. Li dayin and Karlos Nasar seem to be outstanding talents, whereas Li comes originally from the 81s.

I was gonna say the same thing to be honest I was quite disappointed to see the results in the 96.
