Men's Horizontal Bar Final | Tokyo Replays

Less than a week after claiming the men's all-around title, Japan's HASHIMOTO Daiki was golden again. The 19-year-old soared to gold on the horizontal bar, closing out artistic gymnastics at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in style.
Hashimoto earned a 15.033 for gold, just ahead of Croatia's Tin Srbic (14.900). ROC's Nikita Nagornyy rounded out the podium in third after earning a 14.533.
With his victory today, Hashimoto has stamped himself as the heir apparent to UCHIMURA Kohei, who has indicated the Tokyo Games could be his last. Hashimoto is also the first Japanese since GUSHIKEN Koji (1984) to win two individual gold medals at the same Olympic Games.
It was an error-filled final as all but the top three and Team USA's Brody Malone came off the bar. Malone, for his part, went the wrong way on a pirouetting element.
Srbic's medal is the second won by a Croatian gymnast in Olympic history, while Nagornny's bronze marks a third medal in Tokyo after helping lead ROC to team gold and claiming bronze in the men's individual all-around final. _____________________________________________________

I think the reason for all the falls was due to the long wait before the final, so their muscles were cold. They should have allowed them all to get in a little bit of a warm up beforehand. I was rather surprised, to be honest, when they didn't get to do a quick test of the apparatus and 30 second warm up. I really think it would have benefited them and could have made a difference. *shrug

I don’t get why they have enough time to give them a 30s warm up in the AA but not in the apparatus finals. They should really change this for the gymnasts safety

Yeah it's something gymnastics fans have been complaining about for a long time. For whatever reason, gymnasts aren't allowed to warm up on the apparatus before event finals. Mckayla Maroney made a tiktok about how the wait was largely responsible for her balking her vault during finals. She also explained this is likely what happened for Jade Carey as well. It's really unfair and we always see way more people fall in the event finals than the AA :(. With the Tokyo olympics too the arenas were built to house thousands of people, but there really aren't that many people so many athletes complained about how cold it was. Hence why the chinese team was wearing parkas lol.

@@patriciawood6598 the rest of the gymnasts could have worn parkas too though…not sure why they didn’t. Who exactly was complaining though? Also, I’ve never heard of this excuse being used until now for Maroney’s silver. She didn’t balk, she sat her dismount because she was overly confident no?

Still can’t believe that from all apparatuses Nikita could’ve won a Olympic medal on it ended up being HB. For a long time HB was by far his weakest apparatus and now he is a olympic medalist on it 9:43 one of the happiest moments at these Olympics for a Nagornyy fan, after days of failure due to his bad health condition his beautiful smile finally returned

@@Sarablueunicorn ROC stands for Russian Olympic Committee. Russia was "banned" from the Olympics after the 2014 Sochi doping scandal, but Russian athletes can still compete under the ROC. They just can't use their flag or national anthem

I've Just watched London 2012 high bar finals. Definetly a huge diference! Incredibly difficult routines and huge notes compared to Tokyo 2020

While Srbic's performance was personally my favorite and Hashimoto's performance wasn't as "wowing" in my opinion, I can't deny that he really stuck the landing. He was the only one to perfectly land with budging even the slightest, and that really earned him the Gold. 🥇

У хорвата и у японца одинаковая базовая сложность, поэтому с учетом чистоты исполнения, все правильно поставили. Тут дело не в том, кто больше сальто сделает если что, у хорвата было 4 перелета подряд, да они более простые чем у хашимото, но в темп

I believe that Japan is a one-event country; Bars. I feel like they excel at the Parallel Bars, Horizontal Bar and Uneven Bars events, and they focus on perfect execution. Sure, gymnasts like Kohei Uchimura and Mai Murakami have found success in other events like Floor, but like China, most Japanese gymnasts are amazing bar workers, in my opinion.

Почему без разминки? В соседнем зале есть все снаряды, они там разминаются, это не первый раз на олимпиаде, это регламент и никто никогда не жаловался (кроме маруни, но это в ее стиле), в аа и командном финале это предусмотрено, тк сами соревнования длятся дольше, а не полчаса, и все в равных условиях

Japan's selection procedure for picking up gymnasts for the Olympics was VERY questionable. I know Hashimoto won gold, but Japan had it in the bag for a gold and a silver medal here, and they still failed. Selecting Kitazono and Uchimura over Miyachi was a HUGE mistake and it served them right to lose an easy silver medal.
