I love your videos! Thanks a lot! I've done a bunch of caminos and the Pilgrimsleden in Norway. Can't get enough, which is why I'm constantly watching hiking vids so I can hike vicariously until the next trip. :-) Addicted! Cool you're having an adventure in Spain. I'll be back next year.

Ohhhh Norway is on our future pilgrim bucket list. It looks incredible. So glad to hear our Camino videos help fill the void between trips.

Great Vids!! Thanks for doing a gear update It's probably going to cost me some dinero though lol. (your last vid for gear had me ordering new sunglasses) BTW You guys should try to do the Portuguese Coastal while you are in Spain it is amazing !!

Thanks for watching, Joseph. Yeah there are some sweet easy gear upgrades in this one. How are you liking the Nooz glasses? We’ve definitely got the Portuguese coastal in mind. Just gotta find the right time to go. Too much to do!

Great job, I concur with the merino, and all the rest really. I would love to see you guys do the Minota (wine route) camino from Ribadavia.😉

Hi Shawn, You definitely pack supper light for the Camino's, I would embarrass myself if told you how much I actually carry.🤣 I checked out the USWE backpack in Australia it's pretty expensive, however I am impressed with front cross strap configuration. Thank you for sharing and Buen Camino.

For sure! And it’s not about trying to hit some crazy minimum weight - it’s all about narrowing your pack down to what you need. USWE is on the pricey end, but it’s a solid bag with great weight distribution. I’ve moved down to an even smaller lumbar pack but Lainey absolutely loves her USWE and is planning to hike with it again. Thanks for watching and buen camino!

Really enjoying the videos. I'm gearing up to do the camino de invierno this year so I'm finding them very helpful. Shoe question: I think the Altra Lonepeak 6's aren't available any longer, only the 7 or 8 are currently available. Any idea on whether the newer models are as good as the 6?
@DaysWeSpend
@DaysWeSpend 6 ай бұрын
Thank you! The 7 and 8s are very similar to the 6s. We're both currently using the 7s, but we heard the 8s are even better (cheaper and lighter). bit.ly/3ShiOuK

How did you handle food buying? Did you stop in every open store you found? Did you have to make assumptions about how many meals to buy for at each stop or was it clear that you'd have to buy for X meals because the next reliable store was Y days away?
@DaysWeSpend
@DaysWeSpend 2 ай бұрын
All the above. We knew that large grocery stores in large towns would always be open (not on Sunday) but we also checked our maps and plans. We always made plans a day or two in advance so we had the right amount of meals with us.

Nice set up. Is it possible to hike the Camino and spend each night in your own tent instead of at a hostel? How feasible is that?
@DaysWeSpend
@DaysWeSpend 10 ай бұрын
Thanks! Only some routes are feasible with a tent. You are not allowed to free camp in Spain. You must use a campsite or an albergue that allows camping. There are many camping options on the Camino del Norte. The other routes, not so much.

Would really appreciate the pdf file with weights to see how you calculated 3.5kg. Main question is if every single clothing and gear item is in that total weight or its just the loaded backpack weight. Would be great to be able to compare with my own gear list and see where my item weights can be better optimized still. My Winter gear list is at 10 pounds currently containing everything.
@DaysWeSpend

I got the total weight by packing my bag and weighing it with a luggage scale. And I don’t include the weight of my “core” trail clothes because they will NEVER be in my backpack (I wear the same thing on trail every day no matter what). So the weight of the bag is everything else. Maybe I’ll make a pdf someday!

Looking into this bag. I see it comes in 24L & 30L would you recommend the bigger one since roll top? Awesome Video.
@DaysWeSpend
@DaysWeSpend Жыл бұрын
Thanks! It’s honestly pretty great. I always think smaller is better, but the 30L was super comfy. Im actually about to hike the Camino again with a 7-10L waist pack! So im a fan of tiny bags.

Hey Shawn, I’m planning a Camino Frances/Invierno from SJPDP late April 2024. I noticed you didn’t pack a sleeping bag. Do I need one if staying in albergues?
@DaysWeSpend
@DaysWeSpend Жыл бұрын
You'll need a sleep sack or a sleeping bag to stay at the albergues. If you use a sleep sack, most albergues have blankets to use. That's what I do. But if you know you sleep cold, go with the sleeping bag.
