May the mother find comfort and healing and may the young man's loved ones not allow themselves to be victims. The mother and kids receive government funds at about 50k a year equivalent if you worked, she couldn't get that if she tried. Then the father of the children stays at another spot, pays child support and makes 60k or so a year somewhere. He pays bills sure, she doesn't, the government pays hers. that's 110k income to their household, an income they will never get any other way. This is the formula over and over again for poor families across the nation. It is intentional and encouraged by the government whether republican or democrat. I read that the top 10% pay 90% of the taxes. here's the solution republicans, cut all taxes of all kinds, medicare, social, fed, state even local for all income earners below 75k. they don't pay that much to the cause anyway. Then phase out the benefits and immediately allow fathers or males into any housing anywhere anykind at all. Tell me how this wouldn't work to build back the poor?

It always amazes me when I see so many family members in a courtroom supporting the murderer of an innocent child. His family did not seem to care about the victim's life or the family members who are suffering through the trauma of his untimely and brutal death. What is wrong with a group of people who will come into a courtroom and not shed a single tear for a 13 year old boy who lost his life in such a horrible way? It seems like all they want is to see the murderer go free. Don't they think that he needs to be held responsible for what he did? They don't act like that's how they feel. It's almost as if narcissism, antisocial thinking, and sociopathy run high in so many people these days as well as entire family units. Where is the compassion? Where is the sadness? Where is the anger and frustration towards the murderer? No wonder this guy turned out to be a killer.

@charitacoleman3366 please do not take this the wrong way. Words are powerful. They have meaning. Sorry, I am an admission of guilt. For me, my condolences soothe my soul rather than sorry. I would see my son's face every time I closed my eyes, and I knew that God was punishing me. I was so scared to blink my eyes. It was torturous. I would walk the streets, and I would cry under my mask. The moment when I realized how badly I wanted to go to my son's new home and dig up his body, and that I would probably collapse, was the moment I knew that my life was not worth living. I don't know who is in the process of taking someone's life, don't. I promise you, it is not worth it. Both families will suffer, and eventually, the guilt will gnaw at you over time. This person took it all. I wasn't there to help stop his bleeding. My son died all alone. I can not retrieve any of his belongings until he has exhausted all of his appeals. Now, my son has a new home that he can never invite me into, nor does he know that he has moved. What pains me the most is that the grave will hug me, son, longer and tighter than I will.

The "social worker" gets up and subtly blames social media. THIS right here, is the reason the community is so screwed up. Nothing mentioned towards the murderer other than the obligatory "he's a good kid", and she shrugs off the situation by saying "I wasn't there so I don't know what transpired" but technology is a blessing and a curse. She also states that "everybody deserves a second chance". Um, no. Once someone takes an innocent person's life, there are no second chances. None. Even f they didn’t make the NFL, they could have had a college degree and made a life to be proud of. Our middle school was having problems, mostly with boys. The school asked parents, especially fathers, but even uncles came and stood in hallways, the men stood proudly and spoke with the boys and girls, letting them know that they were cared about and much was expected of them as students. The parents were there for about 1.5 weeks and the rest of the school year was great (5mos). Children want boundaries and they want to see men and women, parents, family members and community showing them that they are cared about.

They try to act hard in the courtroom but they will cry to themselves at night. Took a life now serving life and for what…. to prove loyalty to a gang?? Where are those homeboys at now ? They can’t save you from the justice system. These young men had opportunities to seek out great things but chose gang things. My condolences to the families of the victims. Stay strong and keep their memories alive in your hearts.

No humility, no remorse. Their families don't help the situation either. Rather than apologize & show compassion, they're angry & blame the victim. I've seen it many times & it's nonsensical. THEY didn't do anything to YOU-blame YOUR arrogant son. Outrageous behavior by adults w/ a murderer for a son. Keep that head high w/ that idiotic look on your face as u tune it all out. The way his "Godmother" swaggered up w/ her hands in her pockets & chin up high & says nothing of the victims family; the way she sits w/ her arms crossed & sour face. All too much.

The sister said exactly what I was thinking. How you such a good and smart person but killed or planned a shooting? How you take a life knowing that feeling of loss? My thing is how you take a innocent life at that? Smh praying for the 13yr old young boys family he forever will be 13 its so sad so young. His mom will never be the same she dramatized.

The way the second defense attorney addressed the victims family was absolutely disgusting. The nonchalant way he faced them and said “so, we’re sorry for your loss. We really are”. Are you? Are you really? Didn’t seem like it the way you said it. Oh, and after listening to Marco’s mom and sister, I think he regrets the things he said. At least that’s what his face looked like.

What an amazing family. If we can’t learn from that family, Grace magnanimity strength of character, true faith, and the ability to look at this very vicious crime through the eyes. Through the eyes of character, so rare. I was so inspired by the family. Even the grandfathers short words were filled with strength and obvious wisdom. May that family know the strength of their face, and the purity of the word of God as they show it in their statements. Wow, what an example for the rest of us

Oh my goodness that second criminal I almost feel like the attorney representing him makes you want to believe he’s one of the victims as well. It’s amazing how criminal attorneys can take a vile, selfish, narcissistic violent criminal, and turn them into a victim as well. Basically the attorney for the defense in the second criminal has stated that the violent murderer has already redeemed himself, and if they would just go easy on them, he would show just how nice it is for young murdering criminals to have a second chance. Don’t forget how well that worked out in the Darrell Brooks case, I have also never heard less emotion in an apology to a family than when he turned to the family and said basically I feel you. Is there anything less sincere than a defense attorney at sentencing? I doubt it I think the best thing that Attorney could’ve done was kept his mouth shut
