Not to be to personal I went to prison in Virginia and to be honest when a man chooses to interact in sexual relationships with a man he was more than likely already gay before prison. I was in a low level prison and the cars I seen were blatant. Ninety something percent is a little bit far fetched. I’m a heterosexual man who unfortunately been to prison and never engaged in sexual relationships with a man. When you’re solid you are solid. I understand that some men who were in maximum security prison or in very dangerous jails might face more threats but my experience wasn’t that crazy .

When i drove Taxi in the 90s i picked a nurse up and took her to work one day.She worked at the Salvation Army on Park Street in the Corridor.She told that these young women better watch themselves hooking up with these fellow's getting out of prison.That Salvation Army building she said served as an halfway house and was equipped with jail cells .She that it had a lot of men getting released with HIV and she said when they got out they weren't telling the young women that they had it ..

It is. Or maybe that's just what's going on in Memphis. But here in Ohio they separate inmates that need specialized care that includes diseases like heart disease to sickle cell to HIV. They usually keep those sickly guys all in one wing of the prison. Very rarely does someone with a disease like HIV get to be housed with regular inmates. And it's all done for A) insurance purpose B) productivity purposes (remember you gotta hold a job in jail) C) medical purposes too many lawsuits have been filed based on inmates dying from lack of proper health care. Now like I said Memphis might be different based on it being in the South but in Ohio prison is a huge business and believe me when I tell you they want healthy and alive inmates so they can get that bag. In Ohio the feds give the state institutions anywhere from 30 to 50 thousand dollars a year per inmate to house,feed and clothe them dudes and the state wants all that bread and not a drop less. A sick inmate who's health is in question is a threat to the bag

I ran into a young in 1994 who went to school with me, introduced me to her knowing that I liked her. I found out that he was her man later. There was a pile of condoms on her nightstand and plastic on the mattress. With tears in her eyes, she told me how she felt about me in school and that she had aids and was ready to end it. Been to prison almost 20 yrs ago I was 20 and turned my life around. I did 2 and a half years in Connecticut this just isn’t true everywhere. Cuz out there if you was gay you chose that life there were no SA I went to 7 different prisons during that time. I was 22 when I came out and I never saw a cell again. Allow people space to grow. First of all they could have had it before prison. Gay sex is not wide spread in prison. In prison it affects how you are respected. When that is all you have plus what you can it inside a pillow case. It matters. Revieweing files and being in prisons like I was as CO are totally different. I worked in a Prison Max Security..Many Many Many inside are apart of entire families..A father mother n son..ALL MEN!! Visitation..female visits and don’t even have a clue when he leave her he going back to his man!! Many get out and the female don’t have a clue inside he been banging..and it be the most hardest dude! Not all but many many many come that way it just takes someone to bring it out.
