So true. That Isabey's 'Sir Gallahad' is not spreading like wildfire with men in 'frag comm' just makes me like it even more. A hidden gem. Unexpectedly lovely for a gardenia heavy fragrance (I despise the heavy white florals so that's saying something). A startlingly gorgeous floral fragrance that smells great on men as an alternative in the softer side of the fragrance character spectrum.

Open mind....So very thankful I took this challenge. Last year, you introduced me to Parfum Vintage. I did several orders and they sent me a sample called Operose. At first take, I was so turned off by it because I never ventured down this path in my fragrance journey. I gave it another shot, then another and my mind is totally changed. Now, I can't get enough. I like my floral notes just perfectly fine. I am still looking for the most transformative floral scent, though. I want one that I can wear indoors, in the darkest and coldest winter and that makes me feel like flowers are in bloom, the days are lengthening and the sun is shining. That said, Un Jardin Sur Le Nil does need very high summer temperatures to perform well.

I always find it fascinating that Lavender is often a very masculine note in fragrances (no doubt because of the popularity of fougeres among men), considering most people would consider other uses of the flower such as candles and essential oil and even the colour etc as somewhat feminine... Also, the “don’t smell too close” is something that way more people need to know. There are so many fragrances I’ve come across that smell awful up close but so much nicer in the air. Spraying a bunch on and sticking your nose right into it is so different to the actual wearing experience.

Great descriptions of those frags! Whenever I see rose in a fragrance I instantly pause with caution.I always relate it to old ladies and I don’t like powdery at all. I do appreciate it in Raghba and especially in Al Wisam Day.The later being a light,clean rose without powder and stuffiness. Al Wisam Day goes carnal in the heat from the rose,similar to tuberose.

I definitely embrace florals thanks to Zaharoff Rosé. Pallas Athene and Narcisse Taiji works great on my skin. Pallas Athene I get around 12 to 15 hrs depending on the temperature. Narcisse Taiji I get close to 12. Pallas Athene tends to project when it's in the high temperatures in a mist similar to brushing your hand across pedals of roses covered in morning dew, but very pleasing. Also could you do a video on animalic fragrances for beginners I feel it's one of the most challenging notes I've ever come across.

I have a suggestion for a great floral scent! It's Andromeda from Tiziana Terenzi! It has water jasmine, ylang ylang, white heliotrope, Damask rose, peach, coconut, pear blossom, Ebony, sugar & amber! It smells super elegant and lasts FOREVER! About 15 hours on my skin and 3 days from one spray on a piece of paper! It may smell a tad girly on paper, but not on skin! Trust me!

Initially, I don't like rose, I don't like florals, I don't like greens! But I discovered, along my Fragrance journey, that I am beginning to like Rose, especially when done well (as in Declaration lines). I am also beginning to love florals and greens, and recently I decided to be wearing more of those. So the video is on point, as always, Justin. I love Must De Cartier Gold Edition, Valentino Donna Rosa Verde, Tempting by Sofia Vergara, La Vie Est Belle L'Eclat L'au De Parfum, La Vie Est Belle, Declaration (of course!), Hermès Un Jardin Sui Le Tuit, etc. And I tend to wear all these more regularly now. Armaf Shades Wood (which is said to be inspired by the discontinued Kilian Oud Rose) introduced me to the so-called Oud-Rose combo.... Now I love it. I love Iris. Creed Iris Tuberose is a great summer floral scent it is a posh, clean , tropical scent it really smells like fluffy powdery suntan lotion , great for casual wear , or with a white linen suit , say for dinners in a beach resort or something like that Also ELDO Jasmine and cigarettes is a great jasmine, tobacco and hay decent, some tonka as well but it is this great warm and slightly smoky scent with a whole bunch of jasmine and a touch of sweetness kinda like a more floral chergui , I really love it . I would suggest dressing it up .

I only entertained rose fragrances when they involved oud. That combo will always be elite to me no matter what. I only started paying attention to a lot more floral fragrances recently when my wife and I tried each other's perfumes for the entire week. (It sounded like a good idea in my head) She has an extensive floral collection and most of them did a pretty bang on job choking me out for the week. However a few blended really well with my skin and i do have to say I'm eager to try out more floral scents marketed for men.

Hi Nash! I wonder if things like 'Memories' by The Gate work on your skin? Or things like 'Oud Baie Rose' by La Cloiserie? That last one is a syrupy sweet leathery rose with a creamy wood base and it's lovely on MY husband. He tends to go for the darker tobacco, sweet warm spicy fragrances and this one is great on him. If you see it when out shopping or can get a sample online it's one worth trying if you like leathery rose fragrances.

Roja Dove has a couple fantastic sample packs that won't break the bank. Highly recommend. I love rose scent on my man. Amouage Reflection Man would be a very easy floral fragrance for men to like and wear. I don't know anybody who doesn't love this fragrance. My grandmother bullied me for my decant of Zaharoff Signature Rose.....AND SHE DOESN'T EVEN WEAR IT! She just likes smelling it! Armani Prive Rose D'Arabie and Maison Francis Kurkdjian L'homme A la Rose would be good ones to try as well.

My favorite florals: Jasmine Neroli by The 7 Virtues, Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle, Soleil Blanc by Tom Ford, and Sabbia Bianca by Profumum Roma (I love white florals). I wasn't always into florals till I tried Portrait of a Lady (thanks to MrCologne76 for introducing me to it by sending me a sample). Wasn't crazy about it at first but it grew on me quickly and i've been more open to florals ever since.

Great video JC. Its true most men shy away from florals and i get them. However, they are indeed missing a lot if they dont even give it a try. From your list, i think declaration dun soir and narcisse taiji are the easiest to try. Afterwhich the iris based fragrances like Insouciance and Bucoliques de Provence are the must try given the dior homme, prada lhomme and gentleman trend. You really do give the (floral) freshest content in youtube :)

I love love love rose fragrances done well. It can be a hit or miss in a fragrance. I’ve tried the Zaharoff Rosé, and it’s such a delight.. i do love the creaminess of the fragrance with beautiful hints of vanilla. its quite romantic and can change anyones bad day into a beautiful one. the others mentioned here, not yet but definitely looking forward to purchasing a few decants you mentioned. I just repurchased GUERLAIN SANTAL ROYAL EAU DE PARFUM. this fragrance is VERY 💪🏽💨 only one or two spays max is all anyone will need the entire day. It dries down so incredibly well. in an hour or two the fragrance develops into an intoxicating rose. 🌹With slight hint of vanilla also and cinnamon that just so inviting, feeling super confident! It literally gives me goosebumps. its very much unisex. not sure if you’ve tried it, but hope you’ll review it sometime.

Hey Justin. As a guy I don't mind florals, in fact I like them. However, in many cases they lean feminine in my opinion. There are great Middle-Eastern perfumers who use rose with oud, amber, saffron and/or musk to produce great fragrances. Those tend to be powerful and sweet, but I do love and wear them. I suspect Roja's UAE is of that category. I still have to smell the others. There are many florals that I really love and even seek in western perfumes such as carnations, violets and lavender. Cacharel pour l' homme is very carnation heavy, Fahrenheit has tons of florals but nothing that stands on its own. While I adore the smells of jasmine, tuberose and narcissus, when they stand out in a perfume they usually lean feminine and do smell fabulous on women.

I have only recently tried Loudo from Sarah Baker and absolutely love it so I'm interested to try more of what she has to offer. As far as Atelier Materi, I have not had any of their fragrances, so it will be a fresh step into a new house. Was that bottle cap made of cement? That is so refined, yet badass. Also, get your nose on Sweet Repose by Darren Alan Perfumes (the gentleman that made Devil's Share, a scent that is quickly becoming famous in certain circles on here). It is an absolutely stunning Iris fragrance that is like no other. Sure, it has the normal iris backbone, but it is so nuanced and has this freshly harvested element to it that makes it something special.
