what fucks me up is Tamron trying to characterize an adult woman being held by an adult man with consent as if he is holding a 13 year old child. What Mena describes sounds more like Kevin attempting to comfort someone and she accepted that. Whether she had feelings based upon her past after the fact is irrelevant. This wasn't predatory.

I believe the movie was meant to be disturbing. Nornally in a movie the main guy is a hero but here the protagonist is not a great guy, he's fixated on a school girl. Still it was filmed and directed really well and the fact that it is a movie that still has humour despite the disturbing undertones is quite the feat. Not all films are meant to make us comfortable and I believe it deserved the awards.
