If you close your eyes aren't don't have any information on the soloist, you would think: "hmm, perhaps 30 to 40 years old" ..... that's the level of her maturity, technical ability and quality of sound! Great performance as always Leia! :)

Violin Accordion who is the person that you said that has little passion and is inflexible. Hilary or the person playing in this video

I think KKSG is just trying to promote the insignificant Hilary the Hahn.

7:17 I was listening with headphones on and I thought my brother or someone was talking. I replayed that part again and I realized that there is someone talking in the video/audio.

She has story to tell in her interpretation, pictures to show and music to sing. Technically, she shows her capability of taking care of single note with perfection and easiness born out of accuracy learning and accuracy practicing. she can fly with any demanding techniques. Her playing shows that she wants to achieve the mastery in the art of violin playing and in the art of music making. All in all, she is a baby adult of totally matured performing artist!!! I follow each of her single upload on youtube and download and share it on Chinese video webs as youtube and facebook, any foreign audio and video webs are banned and blocked in China including great music!!! Damn it

I loved the performance by this little genius but the conductor is pretty inept and cannot keep the right tempo nor can he keep the orchestra together. Where did they find this guy?
@LeiaZhu7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment, however, I strongly disagree with your statement. Maybe you don’t know that the JGSO is not a professional orchestra, members of the orchestra are about my age or slightly above and meets only once a week for an hour or so. Conductor Julian Clayton did a wonderful job guiding and coaching everyone for this performance in just one term (that's 9 sessions). Everyone involved did a remarkable job and deserves huge congratulation and recognition. They are the best bunch who deserves to be in the limelight. I am proud to be part of this big family.

Ms Zhu: Thank you for your courteous response. Perhaps I was a little too critical (of the conductor.) I do know the orchestra played well and I was also aware that it is a student orchestra. I am very happy that you were quite satisfied with their accompaniment. Your playing was, of course, superb.

No competition needed, when you are good, you are good. Voted by public, not by a few judges whose idea of music is “fixed”.

In another video of yours you explain how Mendelssohn is to be played strictly in tempo with little rubato, but then in performance you use way too much rubato and in the wrong places (you even slow down a ton from the original tempo, for example at 3:15)
@kairongzhu10894 жыл бұрын
It was the continuity from the tempo prior before leading back to the desired tempo. Back to the Mendelssohn's instruction, it does not mean everyone should play exactly the same, its a guideline of not over exaggerating one's expression, otherwise, what's the point you even take up the violin? It is also mentioned in her video that strictly no rubato has not been received well by critics and other professionals alike and that point also needs to be taken into account when you decide on how you wanted to play.

Excellent performance. Very reminiscent of the Mendelssohn by Oistrakh. Too bad an orchestra is so strong.

Ha-ha, the youngsters are living in internet time, nowadays, so our little genius is effectively quite mature at 8! Is it factor of 10 or 8? Can't remember. But apparently all this tech advancement and AI haven't been able to produce any meaningful composers for the past few hundred years...
