The biggest attraction for us in #Juneau Alaska was #Mendenhallglacier However, it isn't all that close to the cruise terminal and cost a mint to take the excursion. We figured out how to do it on a shoestring in the limited time and still have a great experience!

We enjoyed it too! But, being on the cruise limited us from the freedoms we wanted. Thanks for watching!

Thx for the tips we are doing our first Alaska Cruise this summer and we wanted to do the quicker easiest way since we are doing a pre cruise before we get to Port and want to make the most of our time. New subscribers and supporters. Noticed you haven't put anything out for a while. We will be looking at other videos of yours and hope to see more and watch your channel grow! We are so excited to vlog Alaska.

I hope you enjoy your cruise! Thanks for subscribing and watching! I posted weekly for several years, and have been on a break for many months now. It's felt nice to break. I do have 30 or more episodes filmed that I plan to start publishing again in a few months. :)

@@RollinRagu oh so good you took a break we can just now start to understand. Our channel is still fairly new but the last 2 trips we decided to enjoy them and film but no long amount of hours editing and going on our channel and replying we needed to enjoy our trip more. We have been really surprised on how much work really goes into all this. On the plus we weren't even thinking of all the great people we would meet and learn from and how encouraging and supportive everyone is. It has been a huge bonus to make friends everywhere!! Hope we stay in touch!

My primary motivation for the channel was leaving a legacy for our children. I did it for them, and noone else. At times, I would get excited at the idea of becoming a better known YT channel, but no matter how hard I worked, it didn't grow like I hoped. It's easy to use popularity as an indication of somehow "winning". However, I won before we started the channel and the videos as keepsakes for our family are payment enough. Good luck with your channel! Subscribed.

@@RollinRagu that's what we said as well it is having our trips documented. We have always video taped all our vacations for 30 years and so many picture packages at Disney but this takes our memories to a whole new level. It has been so much fun also meeting other people and making friends along the way. So many great benefits and I have always loved photography so its combining all the hobbies! Hope to see u around !! Best wishes!!

So pretty! Understand the bus option, any concerns with the timeline on being back to the ship on time with the potential travel variables?
@RollinRagu
@RollinRagu 3 жыл бұрын
I can’t remember the timeline now, Bob. Pretty sure the bus passed every half hour or hour at most. I can see from the lighting at the end of the video that the ship was still at dock towards nightfall. There were other stops that were shorter so we we opted out of some things we would have enjoyed.

Could you tell me about the badges the boys were collecting? I think our girls would be interested in this.
@RollinRagu
@RollinRagu 2 жыл бұрын
Sure! It is a National Park program called "Junior Rangers". Most parks offer the badge. It required that you complete an age appropriate workbook about the park you're visiting. Most require attendance at a Ranger led activity, maybe a hike or two. It has been a wonderful experience for our boys and added a richness to our park visits. Many times, they educate us while in the park! We've collected 60 or more badges and made a display in the motorhome that you may see in our videos if you look close. There is no age restriction. You can do them yourself if you'd like. Our boys were motivated to do them from age 9 until about 15. After that, we sort of forced them and let them know it was something worth seeing through. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for your comment.

Wow Mendenhall has really retreated. By the time we can set aside enough money to make the journey it might not be visible at all .

@@RollinRagu Enjoying the lifestyle but unfortunately one of our wheels decided to go on it’s own adventure and did some damage during the escape so the trailer is at a repair shop. We had another claim from last year so we are having them do that work also. It’s not an RV dealer and our agent has experience with the shop and has enough faith in them to authorize them to order parts before he can do his estimate tomorrow. He says they are quick when they have the parts so it’s all hanging on the parts arrive. We are in California right now and have to decide what we are going to do logistically by the end of next week so our daughter is home back in Indiana before the new school year teacher training and team building starts. She is trying to get a second grade position for the Fall. The new principal is verifying references and hopefully she will know tomorrow or early next week. What happens for her directly impacts the plans so right now we are in limbo.

What number is the city bus? It come often?
@RollinRagu
@RollinRagu 2 жыл бұрын
That was several years ago. I do not remember the city bus number. However, there is a visitors kiosk when you get off the cruise ships. Ask them and they can help. That's how we found it. Thanks for your question.

So what do you do if someone has to take a crap ? I didn’t see any restrooms
@RollinRagu
@RollinRagu 2 жыл бұрын
You have opportunities on the ship, just after getting off the ship and again at the visitors center at the Glacier. We didn't feel it was an issue...but then again, I didn't have to. :) Thanks for watching and for your comment. Would appreciate if you consider subscribing. We do have episodes where we crap. Check out Mesa Verde from Season 3!

My mom, that you see with us in the wheelchair, also has IBS. It worked out for her. On this particular stop, you can just spend more and avoid the bus ride and walk. I don't remember another stop on the cruise that we were as remote from bathrooms. I hope you enjoy your cruise!

Not sure if I was clear. What I meant was that you can take a taxi or an excursion from the ship. Both will get you to the glacier faster. The best part of the glacier was the easy 1 mile hike out to the falls.
