It is often commented that if the voice of any one of our earlier singers BORDERED the operatic,it was MENELIK's. Indeed,his was a beautifully sonorous and delightfully expressive tenor! Menelik,the singer, gloriously bore the name of the greatest of all Ethiopian of kings,Emperor Menelik II. It was that great and benevolent sovereign who unified the country,ushered it into the modern era and famously routed the Italian colonialists at ADOWA. Emperor Menelik therefore forced the Imperialists to accept the Independence,Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity of Ethiopia. The Amharic has it as:MENELIK WESNACHEW! Menelik set a limit to them! Menelik certainly did that.One at the battle front. And the other,on the stage. In both cases,what a performance!

Were always young in our dreams .... But our body must grow old , remember listening to this when i was a teenager after finding alot of old Ethiopian pop music on public TV/radio
@tariktesera10517 жыл бұрын
We need to go back decades find Ethiopian songs like this one because new singers are no longer singing Ethiopian songs. They do not have talent to sing Ethiopian songs. ALL they do is attemp to rap, do reggie or rock & roll for which they keep failing to imitate. After a month nobody hears their crap because it is fake music. THANK you great singers of the past for leaving us timeless treasure of beautiful real Ethiopian songs.

I'm swedish and I just told my Ethiopian girlfriend that the arrangement of this song sounds like Celine Dion to me. Doesnt matter though as long as people enjoy. But I guess like this song you live with nostalgia. Ewadish nebbere.

Agree! They are even trying to sing the old songs cose they cant do it better.
@eyerusalemb33694 жыл бұрын
Yes I totally agree. there is this new 17 year old girl on balageru. She has a little hope based on the songs she picked so far. I hope she brings back the light.
Menelik Wosnachew was a kind of artist whose peers, from Mahmoud to Muluken. openly admired for his unique voice and style when they were interviewed. This song is my favorite.
How could the current singers got the moral to sing "songs" like "hed meles, endamoraw, etc ...," after hearing such an amaizing and classic song.
