To be fair, Charon's universes forces the mc to choose stupidly bad choices- the ones that immediately invokes in one's gut feelings that it's not gonna end well. And it's a cruel world for *-rou, more than its other characters, especially since they seem to ultimately vindictively take it out on the mc, more often than not. Irrational yeah. They always seem to take leaps in logic. Sometimes I wonder if they could lead better lives if they simply were more logical...

I legitmatly think Nenene is one of the best characters he has wrote. She knows she's being crazy, killing is wrong, etc. And she has *incredibly* good reason to be as sad and possessive as she is. Not to say others have not had good reason, but she has both. Edit: Should also mention that i believe she has the lowest body count of any charon yandere, she didn't even kill all of the bullies! And she dosen't actively harm you - until the bad end anyway, and quickly kills you, instead of say..feeding your own goddamn foot to you, or stabbing you 100 times, etcetc. I don't usually feel bad for charon's yanderes, but her? I do. She was so depressed, that even her light convinced her that all she had was death to look foward to - so she killed herself. Although i feel the bad end is a complete betryal of her character, so by no means is she perfect. Also holy shit the ending song is fantastic.

*spoilers* At first I use to get very sad that the true endings were ones that were melancholy, however I realized that really I like it better like that. The world doesn't work like that, and in the end we aren't guaranteed a happy one. Despite that I felt the true ending was really peaceful and happy, whereas the bad ending just seemed uneventful. Another good example is the ending to FFXV - a lot of people didn't like the ending and conclusion to the story to the point square enix ended up adding extra scenes to it, but it's not a happy ending. However, when you think about it, it's interesting how the villain wins since no matter how you see it, in some way, he gets exactly what he wanted.

This is a problem I have with the stories of Charon: The developments of the stories and the outcomes do not make sense because of this bad habit of taking things to the darkest extremes. I can endure stories that end badly, moreover, the "bad" endings are often my favorites in some games. But these bad endings of Charon where the characters suddenly change their personality to half conversation and They become the biggest pieces of shit in the world for mere impact ends up completely taking me out of the story. And as it is a problem that is repeated in all his stories, he does not surprise me, I just wait to see if character A is transformed into a piece of shit or character B is the piece of shit. I know it has improved over time ... but gods! Sometimes I think that without Manly's commentary I wouldn't even look at them.

I honestly preferred Cradle of Ruin over these. I don't know if it's the extra effort into worldbuilding or a bias against visual novels that don't draw their own backgrounds, but these are just not as immersive, it doesn't feel as fleshed out. Cradle of Ruin was campy at points, sure, but felt more immersive because you could actually interact with an environment.

To be fair, it usually ends in -rou dying, her dying, or both of them dying. Also pay attention to the structure of her eyes before and after the music cuts in the Bad End! Before, the pupil circle inside the colored area is slightly up and left of center, which makes the eye look like it's looking up and to the left. Afterwards, though, that circle is placed dead in the middle of the colored area. Even though the colored area has moved farther up and left, which should look like she's looking farther that way, the pupil circle is now right in the middle of the iris. Can you guess which direction that look goes? Even though she's still looking up and to the left, that detail looks at the camera.

It's the creator getting in practice for better stories, I think. Their work on Vanilla Garden of Judgement and Cradle of Ruin is way better because, although you go through some weirdness to get to the true end, it's eventually explained why all the previous ends occurred, or it enabled you to figure out what NOT to do on the way to the good end. Maybe this game will be similar? One can hope.

@@sunshinegamer1981 I mean while I kida get it, the prior game with the people in the fallout shelther it also felt shallow, everyone was very flat so I kinda just went along cause I wanted to see what manly would do. Deaths were silly and nonsensical at times, purple haired chick I forgot was both in love with robo mom but also red head chick and wanted to kill cause "lol boredom" eeeh and look alot of indie people try using that as a good reason for murderers to become how they are. And look Persona 4's villian was good, he had powers, could go into another world and do what he wanted so that was interesting and when he stated boredom and how shitty the world is it's thought provoking and interesting coming from him. But here it's random she suddenly becomes a killer and we never learn beyond boredom, then at one point we leave her alone and a crystal appears but magic is never established, also it's a dream but also it's meta the mom is an AI but you have to wake up to be born in the real world. It's reads as a person who wanted to put too many threads into one game but just slapped them all together in , some sort of runon sentence of mediocre gameplay, mediocre characters, motivations and twist. And again the sad part is they put alot of work into their character art, other than that. Eeeeeeh....I'd watch manly play them cause nothing else would be on, but I wouldn't recomend a charon game to anyone with eyes ears and most importantly time. But that's just my personal opinion.

I think Charon is still hitting their stride. English obviously isn't their first language, and maybe they're having issues with keeping story threads together, as well? *shrugs* But I respect your opinion! 🙂

This Route Will be perfect if they slow the pace,like in the beginning Nenene only consider Itarou as some good Stranger,She repay him with the dinner,in that Dinner they deepen the Bond,They had been hang out since then,and deepen the bond they shared....and blah blah blah some cliche Rich Girl ran from his family and fall in with some stranger(It will be better If the cliche got the Feeling of Oregairu) And this pace is suitable with the twist ending too

i liked manly's idea better. the bad ending here just kinda... came outta nowhere?? like, idk? it just didn't seem in character, for what little we know of nenene. she did everything for itarou. it's like her defining trait, that she loves him. and she was talking about going far away, where her father couldn't get her.. i though double suicide would've made a lot more sense than... this??? weird psycho shit?
