Brandon had a meniscus transplant some years after having part of his meniscus removed due to an injury. His knee had become painful and his doctor had told him that he would have arthritis in a few years and ultimately ended up with an artificial knee replacement. After his meniscus transplant at the Stone Clinic, he stayed 7 weeks in San Francisco to rehabilitate. He came 5 days a week to work with our physical therapists.

This seems too good to be true. I too have been told that early arthritis is an inevitability for me after my meniscectomy at 23. I’m 26 now and the past 3 years have been the darkest times of my life. How is this not a widely adopted practice? Why was this not presented as an option to me?

Hello, George. Sorry to hear this was not offered to you during your care. The #StoneResearchFoundation has published numerous studies in prestigious medical journals demonstrating the efficacy of meniscus transplantation www.stoneresearch.org/meniscus. Change does not always move quickly and universally in the medical industry so this procedure is not yet widely adopted. We've helped many, many patients of your age throughout the years who are too young for a knee replacement, but still enduring painful arthritis that limits them to a couch potato lifestyle. You can learn more about the procedure at www.stoneclinic.com/bioknee. If you are interested in learning how we can help you specifically, you may arrange for a complimentary consultation to at www.stoneclinic.com/consult

Hello, Kevin. So sorry to hear of the injury and subsequent limitations. We are here to help in any way we can and agree wholeheartedly that a injury should NOT mean the end of your sporting career at 33. Dr. Stone has a cartilage repair technique that consistently generates fantastic outcomes. You can read more about it here www.stoneclinic.com/articular-cartilage and I would highly suggest downloading our "Saving My Knee Guide" to find out about our comprehensive approach to care and how we can help you www.stoneclinic.com/saving-my-knees

I’m 26 and had a posterior lateral meniscus tear summer 2020 and surgery dec 2020. Trimmed the under side of the meniscus. The Pain is distracting daily and have found my personality more irritable and morose. I don’t know what I should do next and seem to have exhausted all options. Also recovering from bicep tear surgery in June. Bicep healing nicely but the knee is frustrating

I've had menisectomy 2 years ago. Lateral Meniscus is still problematic and I'm due to have an allograft mid 2021, this looks to be exactly what I'll be having, plus a slight valgus correction - distal femorial. Let's see how 2021 goes with this process. The actual tear / problem began early 2016. I'm in the U.K.

Hello, how do you feel now? I went through posterior meniscus removal 5 years back and have a chronic knee pain since then. Would you recommend an allograft?
@fitnessbasicsuk
@fitnessbasicsuk 2 жыл бұрын
@@koolnaal21 Hi Ken, having our meniscus trimmed & removed never helps our joint, meniscectomy surgeon's think we'll manage fine but within months I was facing arthritis due to the cartilage I lost. You'll be the same. Thanks for asking... funnily enough my wait took longer than usual, I'm actually 17 days post operation now ! So in the early days still. They found grade 2 arthritis in my joint so the upside is at least the allograft is stopping that getting any worse. The transplant fit in well according to them. My knee bending - even with daily rehab exercises is very limited, slowly but surely going to get the knee bend function back but may just take a few months seen as this op was big. Any other questions welcome Ken

@@koolnaal21 Just to add... Yes! It is crucial to stop the arthritis getting worse, it would be handy to know your age? I'm 24 in a month & this allograft was crucial. Because of the transplant.. even though I have arthritis, I won't worsen that arthritis... until I'm at the age where it naturally would happen, hope it makes sense.
