Great suggests on the rain jacket. I moved from So Cal to Florida, and it's near "winter" here, so it's been a challenge for outer wear(and all clothing year around), particularly because it often rains here. With warm temps, higher humidity, and occasional rains, your ideas for neutral color rain coats that are lighter weight material is so practical, and looks great! Yes, I too miss my bombers....its just too warm here.....

I second the overcoat, and find a vintage super heavy version. Not these modern ones full of nylon. You want 100% wool and yes double breasted. The extra fabric makes it more warm. And buy one size up to fit over a suit jacket. So many guys make the mistake of getting a form fitted overcoat, its those Chelsea boot boys shivering in the cold... lol.

We do not come here to tell her „we don’t need your fashion advice”. We come here to compare which one of us ridiculed her in the best way for killing personalized style, recommending same things over and over, poor product sponsorship and not knowing, what men like in general. If all men dressed like she recommends, streets would be filled with black suit wearing Mr. Anderrrsons and trying-to-look-casual, tan chinos wearing, boring mannequins. I think this channel will become my new hobby and go-to-place for shits and giggles.

It's interesting there's no mention of shearling winter coats. I think those often look better than anything else you've mentioned. As for topcoats and pea coats, only taller men look good in them.

IMO, topcoats also look good on short kings. You just have to know what you’re because it’s tricky. Take Tim Dessaint for example. He’s 5’7” but looks pretty good on em. He even does it with relaxed fit which is more tricky to get right. Most importantly, rock it with confidence 😃

Serious question here, how do we make jacket and coats stylish when buttoned/zipped up? I ask because nearly every fashion photo featuring them shows them open, however especially in the case of a heavier coat, you are likely wearing them because it's cold out, right? So you would want them closed up. I find often however-perhaps due to the swath of aforementioned photos-they don't look as good closed.

Fair, but I don’t find the content too contorted. I learn from every one of her videos, so I don’t mind if she plugs sponsors as seamlessly as possible. Hard to avoid repackaging the same content when putting out videos with overlapping themes. But yeah, worth noticing.

100% agree. I appreciate the *other* channels that are filling the gap and have videos that are encouraging, direct, funny, and helping people step up in a positive way. Others are being far more supportive, without the tone of shame or condescension that is most obvious when starting a video with “the worst…”, “don’t do…”, “this mistake…” I’m spending more time watching other videos that hype up neat things that you *can do* instead of the inadequacies of *don’t do this* or product sponsors 🤷‍♂️

@@Flurry7 totally agree, the focus on calling out fashion fails feels almost entirely driven by chasing clicks through controversy. I’m also tired of Ashley framing everything through the lens of trying to attract women, too. As though that’s literally the only reason for a man to put clothes on. The most disappointing thing about it is that I don’t feel as though that is who she is at her core, or how she sees fashion. Having followed her videos for a few years, I get the impression she’s a thoughtful and practical person, who knows what she’s talking about. But unfortunately the KZbin algorithm has gotten the better of her, and she’s fallen into the rut of lowest common denominator content, pandering to the base instincts of gross men on the internet who see women as objects and fashion as nothing but status and power.

I think you got it wrong regarding the double-breasted overcoat. I think they look just as cool unbuttoned. Still super stylish and sophisticated. There’s a leasurely sophistication when unbuttoned with casual clothing. Single-breasted is safer for beginners, but not necessarily better looking. I have a ton of beautiful overcoats but the doubles always get the most compliments.

I agree with Ashely on this...unbuttoning any double breasted coat (including suits) looks bad. There's way too much fabric, and it tends to fall apart and look messy.

Thank you for giving great advise. Special “thank you” for mentioning the logos, which should be avoided! Avoid the logos, especially on outerwear! There is an established tradition which makes it acceptable to have the maker’s emblem on a polo shirt or a t-shirt, but not anything else. Don’t be a walking advertisement. It never looks stylish. Obviously, this rule doesn’t apply to schools, clubs, teams or organizations emblems that you belong to.

Bullshit. Best technical wear has always a logo on it. Some of us live in areas with harsh weather, like to go camping or take walks in the woods. Not everyone lives in LA and pretend they are very busy meeting very important people about very important things.

*HA HA . +1 for Terrance and Philip = Canadians!* *Fashion Dos* 1. A wool car coat. It is sleek. It conveys manhood and refinement. The Hudson Bib Wool Car Coat is quite stylish. 2. For Extreme / Harsh weather: a parka 3. For skiing / boarding: a ski parka (waist length parka) *Fashion Do Nots* 1. The "parajumper" tactical jacket looks like cop / bobby wear for winter. Remember the fashion rule for men: Fashion follow function. Unless you are doing tactical things, pass on that one. 2. The "Puffer Parka" is a no-no. Those look effeminate, hence metro. No man would ever wear one. A puffer jacket itself looks like Marty McFly's down vest with sleeves. 3. Barn coats, yes. Gangsta rappers' famous-brand work coats / chore coats, no. 4. The Pea Coat It is dated. It was clever fashion when true Navy surplus was being sold off in the late 1950s and 1960s. Now it comes across as metro. The style was picked up by women's clothing makers by the 1970s. *Final note: As a 21 year resident of Ventura County, So Cal, a chore coat is overkill.* So Cal on the plains and at the beach is sweater weather, hoodies, maybe a duck coat. Of course, if you're going skiing on Mt. Baldy, you wear a ski parka.

Why do people act like we men doesn't freeze around our legs during winter. Bought myself a tommy hilfiger gravity maxi coat that goes under my knees. Never felt so good being out during winter. Thies so called fashion experts literally only makes people being in discomfort with there so called expert advice.

What is the common factor in these "parajumpers?" Each one she showed seemed completely different from each other. Some were puffy down, some were flat fabric, some were featureless, some were covered in zips tags and pockets... Pretty confusing. Usually Ashley does a better job explaining than this.🤨

Love the style the Rains coats can bring... But not thr fact there's no breathability. You wear a jacket like that and move even modestly, you will quickly turn it into a sauna. Even just wearing it for an hour plus will cause your clothes underneath to become damp.
