I think that the audience would have expected Adam Peaty to be a champion like Katie Ledecki or Michael Phelps, to either win by quite a margin or retire. Instead he is still great but he can only get to a second or third place.

‘Can only get second or third’….wow, that’s like a presenter I heard yesterday referring to Hayden Wilde (NZ triathlete) ‘having to settle for silver’…..in my view that’s so disrespectful in the face of what it takes to make an Olympic Games.

@@zoeartrc Sorry about my English. IMO he is great and he does not retire. He swims and the result is he is still competitive as you say he gives all that it takes to make a World or Olympic Games but last year he's third and this year is second. what I was trying to say is that all is more prominent, because it happens to someone who was so uniformly dominant for quite a long spell
