I suspect that the coat will be too baggy to wear without a jacket underneath

Layers should beef up in weight - Tee, heavy sweater, coat OR dress shirt, sport coat/suit jacket, coat. The layer underneath should never be light enough (tee/light shirt to coat) for the coat’s larger fit to be an issue.

you probably will wear it with a sweater so probably around the same fit
