Def Leppard were on the same episode and loved this performance apparently. So there you go.

This was their best track, closely followed by I'll Manage Somehow. They weren't the worst band around at that time, but were massively hyped.

@@davidarmstrong1666 Thank goodness someone is talking sense. Dreadfully soulless, copy and paste, rudimentary indie by numbers tosh.

You can see it in their faces, they have no emotional investment in what they're doing. It's almost like they're bad actors fulfilling a role (which really could've been the case). I remember the disproportional hype surrounding them from NME, Melody Maker et al, but just listen to their songs. Yeah, we can all enjoy a bit of nostalgia, but the lyrics are hideous, the song is poorly written, the melody is weak and the musicianship just isn't there. Awful band, but I think they knew it at the time.

Tbh, i think they're quite nice. Only found out about their existence a few days ago, but i think they're good fun. Almost like a social experiment: can you make up a band and launch them to stardom? If anything, your comment proces opinions can vary and that's nothing but healthy. There's still better bands than Menswear obviously, but to dub them as abysmal isn't entirely right in my eyes. Then again, if anything it's clear they at times just cared more about looking good than perfecting songs, so who knows eh?

It's a great song which I've enjoyed listening to many times over the last quarter of a century, yet some people seem to feel this need to come and slag them off everywhere. We get it, it isn't for you, now go find something you do like - or at least can critique in a less hackneyed, clichéd way. Cheers.

Stumbled on these on TOTP2 a few months ago.Think it’s very harsh to call them awful and Stardust is a decent tune.Too much competition at the time imo for them to really go big time.I like them but Oasis,Shed7 & Stone Roses were levels above.
