MENTAL 309BHP MK2 VW JETTA 1.8 TURBO - OWEN & STU DRIVE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2 YEARS

This MK2 Jetta 1.8T was on the channel two years ago and is now back on with a ton of upgrades.
Stu & Owen take it out for a thrash to see how different Captain Barnes has made this rare 2 door Jetta.
We still love this car and helped us start what we are doing now, nice to have it back!!

I own a mirror image of this car in the states. An 86 clean title white Jetta Coupe (manual/AC/moonroof). I'm torn on converting it to an EV or staying with petrol. If I was to stay with petrol, where would I even start? I'm somewhat close to the Seattle area. I'd be willing to trailer it and pay a shop to do a similar build.

Too much power to be quick,tyre smoke is cool when you are 17,drop power to around 220 bhp it'll be a weapon,a well tuned 16v gti would probably embarrass it in a drag race or on a nice b road

@@owenkcc the car is irrelevant really tho,if the driver is not as talented with his pedal dance ,if a car has the ability to put all its power down without losing grip its gonna be able to lap quicker than same car with more power thats spinning its wheels struggling for grip,I've driven many a mk2 golf,n corrado and at the owners track day its surprising what can lap fastest,one year it was a 1.6 automatic over gtis,g60s,1.8ts,vr6s n r32s lol
