The truth about complex ptsd is it takes a lot of kindness and a lot of time. You do not forget war so easily. You do not forget assault or abuse so easily. And when those things become truly overwhelming and disruptive it doesn't stop until you're truly over it. And you won't get over it until it stop hurting. Repressed and supressed emotions from intense experiences can cause extreme behavior or self harm.

Ya I like livestreams but my internet sucks and they usually buffer so I watch them after if its posted.

Yes. Most of them are. Some narcissists were spoiled from young age. They are used to having everything and anything. Is hard for them to manage real life. And the struggle leads them to addiction. Sad but true.

The opposite experience can cause narcissism too. My grandmother had alot of children, played favorites, was very judgmental and I think also a narcassist. My dad was a favorite for a short time so I think he decided he needed to be the one to believe in himself and I think took it too far.

feed your enthusiasm for recovery - healthy food** remember if you live in the USA most likely you're not gunna starve if you skip Mc D's and go home and plan out a heathy meal to have for your hunger

Chronic pain patient here not able too get prescriptions, heard lyrica helps with some chronic pain. Any thoughts on that. Thank you

Hi Kati!! Love all your videos, podcasts, etc. thx for you and Shawn for all information. I have recently in last 4 months, switched psychiatrist, and last month, new therapist. I’m not feeling good fit with either of these professionals. What’s the best way, and timeframe, to give before looking for a better fit? Thx 💕

Kati, what do you do about a narcissistic spouse who refuses marriage therapy because he feels we dont "need it". But we so clearly do. He also promises change and then the changes only occur for a day or two then its back to the same shit. Ive been in therapy for 8yrs and i feel like im going to therapy for the both of us. I also do everything my therapist suggest and shes basically told me ive exhausted all her advice. Idk what to do but i dont want to get divorced. We have two kids together (3.5yrs and 5months) and we've been together 12yrs and ive been through his recovery from drugs and 2 withdrawals of his and hes been sober 9yrs now. We've been through a lot together... and ive stuck through it all. I do love him! Im not a quiter and i dont come from a family of divorce... but im at a loss. I feel like im putting in all the work and its exhausting. Help.

If he isn't willing to change, you have to divorce him for yourself and for your kids. Trust me your kids will be happier with only one parent instead of two where one is abusive at some kind. It's clear that you can't change him and if you're with him, you're wasting your precious time, energy and happiness.

@@ems.master I totally. Before I got to the kids part, I said 'Dump his ass!'. But I totally know how hard the idea must be when children are involved. But speaking for myself, there might be some resentment from your children if you become more unhappy and miserable because of them because you decided not to get divorced. This may be most likely if you don't talk to them about it. OP can try "You say we don't need it, but I think we do. Can you humor me?" Ask again, then he can't say anything when you have the divorce talk. Sorry, I know it's a hard situation and you might be greater attached because of what you've been through together, but it's definitely possible to exhaust someone's company. The relationship might have already run its course. Divorce isn't bad technically but as someone who doesn't want to ever divorce in the future, when it becomes something you have to do, it's just something you have to learn. It's easy to say divorce is ok, but your understanding of it will be totally different when you have to do it. People's judgements are par for the course, but nothing matters more than your happiness and your family's (you and your kids). Stick it out another year if it'll make you feel better. Talk to family about what's happening to collect allies, to ask for help, in case.

Hi Kati, I have a new therapist and talk to her over the phone, but when I do talk to her I feel like I'm talking about stuff that's not quite important yet or I don't know where to start out of being too nervous & anxiety hitting me.

That would make me anxious too because I hate talking on the phone. U cant see the person and everyone has to speak louder and more clearly. I get more worried about people overhearing the conversation on one end and judging. Is in person or over zoom an option? U may end up preferring it.

Also I think more people are rude over the phone because its easier to get away with it when u cant see the person or may not remember their name. Particularly receptionists and customer service representatives.
