Join Dr. Grace Derboghossian as we continue our exploration of Alzheimer's disease, a progressive and irreversible brain disorder that impacts millions worldwide, affecting memory, thinking, and behavior. Caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease presents unique challenges. As Alzheimer's disease progresses, memory loss, confusion, and personality changes become more intense. This not only affects the patient but also places a heavy burden on caregivers, leading to significant mental health challenges.
In this video, we'll discuss:
📍How caregiving can lead to work-related stress and impact mental health.
📍The increased responsibilities, time constraints, and financial worries that contribute to emotional distress.
📍The feelings of isolation, depression, anxiety, and sleep problems that caregivers often experience due to the demanding nature of their role.
📍The importance of seeking respite, support, and education about the disease and coping strategies.
📍The invaluable love and comfort caregivers provide, and the importance of asking for help when needed.
Alzheimer’s Disease is a debilitating brain disorder affecting millions worldwide. In this episode, join Dr. Grace D who will share ways to prevent the disease.

As a Church, we recognize that mental health is a critical component of our overall health and wellbeing. The Office of Mental Health Ministry seeks to accompany those with mental health needs in our parish and school communities in a Catholic, sustainable, ethical, and meaningful way. The focus of this ministry is education, accompaniment, and advocacy.
The Office of Mental Health Ministry is not a clinical resource and is not intended to serve as a substitute for treatment or counseling with a qualified professional. We do not diagnose or treat mental illness, but rather serve as an avenue to provide literacy in mental health to promote the reduction of mental illness stigma, encourage conversations around mental illness, and create a safe environment for individuals to share and seek help surrounding their mental illness (Catholic Mental Health Ministry Guidelines, 2019). Our mission is to help create pastoral environments where people living with mental illness can meet, share their experiences and their Catholic faith with others, and to grow spiritually in their relationship with God.
Remember, you are not alone.
