Yeah, in WoW you get chewed the fuck out for tanking too slow, so the vast majority is trained to pull as soon as possible.

@@slimfastsubaru2043 Yeah most of the time in FF we don't crucify people for asking questions. But i myself do start to get grey hairs if someone new doesn't ask for help so i can help them improve.

i had an issue like this with a healer in Shiva ex. i tried to be a good mentor and actually tell people how to solve mechs. The healer refused to listen, constantly died and left the other healer to heal. they would jump and pull the boss when i was trying to explain. they would say repeatedly "if you guys know the fight then what is the problem?" they would also claim that they died by unseen mechs, when i know her fight inside and out, and would tell them such a mech doesnt exist. they still claimed it wasnt their fault. I got so so mad, i was seething, i had never been so mad before. everyone else was listening and doing their best, but a solo healer can only do so much. Tried to vote kick them earlier on and people dismissed it, but as the healer got worse and we kept wiping even before the arrow part, someone else finally voted a dismiss and we got rid of them. i swear we were in there for 45 mins, but once we got a new healer we didnt wipe once and completed it in one go. super frustrating when people wont listen. mentors get a bad name and there are alot of bad ones out there, but there are the ones like me who try so hard to help, rather than just up and leaving the moment we see what trial it is. please listen to those who do know the fight and want to help

Tanked this for the first time the other day, and I asked before we pulled what mechanics to look out for, a mentor healer in the party proceeded to pull Shiva, then call us all trash for wiping, then pull her again before the OTHER mentor healer could finish explaining what to do to the party, they then called me something (I dunno what, the system censored it) and started spamming more censored words. 10/10 experience.

you can uncensor them in the system functions, but yeah there are alot of bad mentors out there. i try to be one of the few that are actually there to help people and not just in it for the mount. i loved helping people before and i still do!

This is why as a PLD when i enter something i'm completely new to, i let the group know and ask if there is anything specific i need to know about the encounter pertaining to my role.

I thought having duplicate job slowing LB bar gain ONLY mattered in high-end duties?

I think LB gain is normalized for mentor roulette, so duplicate jobs don't reduce LB gain.
