Mentors Ease Path to Students' First Jobs

Katherine worked as a nursing assistant for more than 16 years, where she spent 12-hour shifts supporting and comforting children at a hospital. And when the COVID-19 pandemic hit she began to reevaluate her career.
Today, Katherine has her bachelor’s degree in #SoftwareDevelopment and has a career as a software engineer, thanks to a program that helped her gain real-world experience through classroom projects and get connected with mentors in the tech industry.
The program is a partnership between Seattle nonprofit, #Mentors in Tech, and a local community college, ‪@GreenRiverCollege‬, that aims to improve opportunities for students who live in a region with a robust tech industry that can be difficult to access.
