We all agree mentorship is important. But first things first -- what is mentorship? How is a mentor different from a supervisor? What are the different forms that mentorship might take in real life? We'll address these 3 questions in this video. (Part 1 of a video series on mentorship of physician-scientist trainees put together by the Clinician Investigator Trainee Association of Canada (CITAC). www.citac-accfc.org/)
More about this video series:
Mentorship is consistently seen as vital in the development of clinician-scientists. If you're like me -- you've heard this a lot -- from faculty, fellow students, and perhaps you sense a personal need for mentorship. I think the need for mentorship is something that resonates with all of us; we all agree on its importance. But it's less clear how exactly one goes about getting mentored. The purpose of this video series is to provide resources on mentorship. They're not meant to replace the unique support that is found in mentor-mentee relationships. Rather, we hope to empower you with the tools and skills to seek out the mentorship you need. We hope you enjoy it and put it to use!
