sometimes i hover my DJI phantom drone about 100ft above the glideslope and around 600ft to the side and watch the planes coming in through an optical zoom its very interesting to watch the approach from above dont worry the drone is small enough that it is not detected by radar so it wont interrupt anything and i fly it above and to the side of the glideslope and localiser so it wont hit anything

That was my job when plugged in at nose gear, giving pilot play by play every step engine was at, and when fuel came on, what a low sonic rumble right to the bone, but the view at 30 below zero at sunrise, is unforgettable. No one has this view anywhere. L1011 Days, Most Beautiful Ship.

By the way, I have a question. I noticed that the old bumper engines were usually fitted to the engines behind the plane. The Russians at Il-62 mounted even four engines in the back. I notice that the new generation of planes gave up this arrangement, and the engines are mounted under the wings. What is reason?

We did engine startup different on the helicopters. Because they're turboshaft and there is a not negligible weight of the rotors and associated gearboxes from a static startup to try to spread the strain on the engines evenly the first engine to start would depend on the date. Even number day's would be a number two engine start first and odd number day's would be a number one engine start first.

Dear Mentour Pilot, Would you share you thought on what happened to flight 370? It has been four years since it disappeared and I would like to know what do other pilots theorize. I find it hard to believe that a senior pilot with everything good in life would take the plane off course deliberately, but all evidence seems to point to that.

Would be great if you could explain how a jet engine actually starts. I guess it does not have an electrical starter engine like a car. I believe the turbine is started using pressurized air from the APU, but could you explain the process more clearly? If the APU is unserviceable, does that mean the engines cannot start? And how is the APU started?
@HelloKittyFanMan.
@HelloKittyFanMan. 6 жыл бұрын
Well no, Ryan, because there's no such thing as an "electric engine." But yes, some jet engines have starter _motors._ Others are as Andy already explained, except that he doesn't need quotation marks around "huffer cart." What are those supposed to be for, Andy?

When engine starts the rotating beacon is turned on to alert people walking near the plane to stay away or get blown away at the back or be sucked into intake in front OF ENGINE. There are landing lights and navigation lights red on port side and green on starboard or Right on wings. Anti collision lights.

From an energy point of view, aircraft engines are important especially when it comes to developing engines that can accept other kinds of fuel or even electric engines for aircraft. Hydrogen fuel cells are another kind of technology that with the proper research can become great for aircraft. But this video only shows starting the engines from the controls in the cockpit and no picture of what is happening in the engine itself.

hey! I just watched sully movie and one thing I noticed that after the bird strike captain sully tells that "I'm turning on the APU " why?
@The_McRib
@The_McRib 7 жыл бұрын
The APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) is a 3rd jet engine (or 5th in 4 engine planes) normally located in the Aircraft's tail. It can provide power to the aircraft's electronic and hydraulic systems in case one (or both) of the engines are unable to. In Sully, both engines are destroyed due to birds, so Sully turns on the APU to keep the aircraft systems working.

Ryanair Rules yes, it's basically a check drill to remind the crew their departure clearance hasn't been received. some airlines have this +100 add on as part of their SOP's. (standard operating procedures) once the clearance has been received, the PF will reset the MCP (mode control panel) back to the published missed approach altitude and if required, it will be entered into the FMC❤

Can the 737 start an engine at an airport without the aid of a starter generator?
@killman369547
@killman369547 5 жыл бұрын
if it has a functional auxillary power unit indeed it can. the APU is basically a mini jet engine (gas turbine technically) which can be started with the onboard batteries, once it's running bleed-off air will be piped to one of the two main engines. once that is running the APU can be shut off and the bleed-off air from the running engine will start the other one.
