I know im late to this video but I'm kinda new. Started just before Dawntrail launched basically. My whole "thing" is far eastern noble or Geishas and Oirans. The Shishu gozen Kanzashi is basically stuck to my head and i don't know how this contest works, or how long they take to drip feed hair styles BUT... That Hime hair cut and the two toned hair with tassles are like... everything I've ever asked for. I love the Viera but like basically none of their hair. The ones i do like clip like mad.

I'd love it if they'd implement the ability to mirror hair cuts like we can mirror face paint. Then we get twice the usage options for a lot of these awesome hair styles.

I like how the "Zenos-style" hairstyle reminds me a lot of Alucard from Castlevania and the other hairstyle reminds me a lot of the MC from Violet Evergarden. 😄

Something I really wish they would implement is the ability to choose either of two mirrored orientations for ALL asymmetric hair styles. It doesn't seem that it would be difficult to do in the code. Just add a toggle to select default orientation; say, longer bangs on the right side, where unselecting the toggle swaps the orientation; longer bangs are on the left instead.

I want it too, but it's a lot easier to flip a flat image (which the facepaints are) than a 3d image (which the hairstyles are) they have to reverse the whole model, essentially

@@jessicawoodley9577 Because head nodes on models are only a single bone in the skeleton and spine bones branch off along a single linear line, it's actually generally extremely easy to do a simple x-axis flip for hair... is what I _would_ say if it weren't for Miqo'te, who also have individual asymmetric animated ear bones that are specifically part of the hairs rather than the heads 😞catgirls and catboys are ruining it for everyone, and for what? So 6 of our hairstyles can have dumb black ear tips? Just stick our ears to our heads like the rest of the races.

I love the elegant twist hairstyle so much. You have to remember length is lost between the texture of the hair and it being twisted and pinned up to her head, so to me it's the right length based on the style.

I guess they were skittish to add it not to run into cultural appropriation fights, so I’m happy to see them being more flexible on that. I also can’t wait for the engine update, as it would render curly hair with better volume and texture. Pervious contest notes are still up, and I’ve seen judges cite engine/polygon count limitations as a reason for dropping designs they otherwise loved, I suspect this was also an issue here

I think it's a good choice personally. That's a strong stylistic choice over the last few years, especially in places like Korea, and having some variety fleshes fleshes out the world. Would look weird if everyone wanting a style of hair had the exact same cut

The messy top seems to be very trendy in Asian countries, notably Kpop and J-pop stuff. Take a look at box art for anime style games and visual novels. it's all over the place. At least we're getting a proper dreadlock style and the one you mentioned.

There is no where in the game or game-related medias that specifically says no race has curly hair. Did you consider the fact that none of the race had curly hair because the game never had it? It's a Japanese game, diversity is not that high on their priority list, but with more and more people around the world playing, it's nice that they are including more styles

The eyes can adjust really well to stuff like that. Walked around with glasses that were clearly scratched for a long time and i could see just fine. Got new glasses and tried to put the old ones on again a month later and i could barely see through them. The brain is amazing.

I was hoping to see some more ponytail styles, but these are incredible! Hime Tchenji is especially adorable, makes me want hairstyles tied to glamour sets. I'm in the same camp as you WRT long hairstyles: I want more updos too to avoid clipping, but there are plenty of glams that avoid clipping issues with the Gold Saucer long hair and we're in desperate need of more variety.

You are right, it is A-Ruhn-Senna, a Padjal who ventures outside the Twelveswood following the WoL’s inspiration. I found Zenos relatable because I had personality disorders (some still persist) that made me relate to others in weird ways, even if I had no malicious intent it could have been perceived that way. Contrary to Zenos I have received therapy and am now able to form friendships in the conventional sense, but whoever wrote that character arc seems to have known what this was like, and portrayed it in a way that really resonates - especially that one flashback in Growing Light. All its beauty and horror laid bare, side by side.

In an effort to cover the side not being talked about as much, I'd like to see more of the masculine styles put in for the guys, rather than just stamping "unisex" on the feminine styles and throwing them at us. I may be Gay, but I would like more masculine hairstyles for my guys. heck, even the one covering the eyes wouldn't be a bad one. My main is a Hrothgar, and while I'm happy we're getting access to more styles as the game progresses, I've personally been rather disappointed about some of the selection - an example being the styles from the Island Sanctuary comes to mind. They're both really effeminate, SqEnix didn't even make one masc/one fem. YMMV, but it is kinda unfortunate for the players who want their dudes to look like dudes not really getting a say compared to all the guys playing dolly dress-up with their lalas and catgirls. Just my opinion.

For rewards SE sticks to the unisex hairstyles because it's not very exciting when you play a male WoL to get an anime princess hairstyle for rewards, and a lot of those would fit that description. They also tend to stick to shorter hairstyle (sorry Meoni!) as those don't clip with big collars.

Let me preface this by saying I want all of the hair here in game. I just wish male character wise the haircuts weren’t all so damn similar. It’s a recurring problem I find with male characters in video games. The whimsy is almost always lacking. Variations of a similar style is still an amazing treat so I genuinely cannot wait. Sad that they do say that even if you won the hairstyles might not be implemented which is a shame. If you make 40 people win, implement them. You can’t have too many hairstyles in SE considering how many players of different taste you have. Do you think they will implement the two part highlight (the one with the curtain tassels)? I hope so honestly.

Some of these hairstyles are very unique/well designed, while others are almost identical to each other with minor differences. I (as well as most of the forums) have noticed there are way too many short hair style winners on this list- I think SE cherry picked all the short hairstyle entries in the contest because 99 percent of players want longer hairstyles. I just don't understand how ARR/HW had so many long hairstyles introduced, but as time has gone on we've continued to only get short and medium length hairstyles. With the graphics update on the horizon, SE should be pushing the envelope more. FFXIV is becoming predictable and stale. (customization wise). SE just needs to give us longer hairstyles and let us players decide what clipping is worth it or not. Half of the game clips already, I personally avoid high collars on outfits that clip with my long hairstyle (fem roe here- we currently have the longest hairstyle in the game)- but that's my decision. I may like a piece of gear, but if it clips with my hairstyle too much then I will glamour something else or change my hairstyle to fit the glam. It's my decision. Simply not giving us something we want because it may or may not clip is no longer a valid excuse at this point- especially when they release glamours that literally clip in themselves (that big princess gown dress for example literally clips with all races hands/arms). I personally could never use this as it would drive me insane, but clearly there are those who have purchased it as a glam and use it just fine. It's subjective. Not to mention, profitability wise- SE could make a killing if they made long/popular hairstyles like Ysayle, Yotsuyu, Hilda, Zenos etc. available on the cash shop. People would purchase those in droves. It just doesn't make sense to me from a marketing perspective.

Honestly, I wish to see each and every single one of these implemented into the game, the way the artists made them. I know it's too much to ask but damn we do need a lot more hairstyles because a lot of those currently in the game are either ugly or clip through each and every chest piece. A lot of the hairstyles shown here are creative, cool looking and short from the neck down (talking about the male character ones) which would be so so cool to see them in the game both for more choice and variety for the players to choose without compromising their glams but also for the sake of NPC variety because a lot of these would be used for NPCs. Heck, some of these haircuts are so amazing that I wish they implemented them and then revised the design of past NPCs the players interact with since, as of now, you can have just so much variation and by Endwalker a lot of the regular NPCs you see around feel very same-y.

(Sometimes people ask if shes an elezen which kinda irks me) I absolutely love controlled chaos on her, its sleek, chic, slightly edgy, looks practical by not getting in the way and keeping her cool, short and feminine without being cutsie. It also seems to soften and round out the sharp angular features that roegadyn are famous for. The only thing I don't like with it is I have two facial scars on and controlled chaos hides both of them. While I worked this into her character and personality I still wanna see it cuz her scars add definition and character, enhancing her good looks. Im looking forward to seeing some of these on her in DawnTrail! She can trade the sleek for relaxed, without compromising on practical. Miso Omiso's design looks like what I would envision my toon enjoying when she's on vacation.

I can't see any of these actually being genderlocked in-game since they only locked race-specific hairstyles so really my only genuine concern is how well they actually mesh with hrothgar and viera since some of them feel phoned in.

Love the Resistance haircut, it looks a lot like the haircut I had given the main character of the game I am remaking. In his remake, I was somewhat influenced to make him like my Gunbreaker, as the whole sword and gunplay fit well with the mechanics of the game.
