There is really no excuse to not allow Hroths and Vieras headpiece glams, if their excuse it's that it "clips" or something, well, we have so many other things clipping and it never stops them, so what is their excuse?

My goddamn ears clip my hrothgar hair after they belatedly added it. My tail clips every long coat in the game. Let my ears clip hats. Or add a blend shape to squish ears flat under hats. It's not hard. Source: I make VRC avs.

I personally am of the belief that Viera and Hrothgar hats aren't a thing (in part) because their exclusive racial hairstyles do not have versions for when a character is wearing a hat. The main reason why i believe that is because they do tend to get hats/hoods that make a characters hair completely disappear.

Can confirm (for my character at least), the deformation on the shoulder is pose based. If I stand straight armed, it looks perfectly fine

I've always wondered why M'naago is the only delivery NPC that can't be dressed up. That top and head piece are unfortunate but those chaps are great.

@@zyphreiumv4529 Nope, Nitowikwe, Kai-Shirr and Ameliance also shows up in the MSQ and sidequests but can fully glam them. Perhaps the reason is M'naago is a military leader/officer on duty.

Were these characters used in the MSQ after they became custom delivery characters? Because when it looks like Mnaago became one in 4.1 and I think she was used in quests released after then, right? If thats still not the case then you're most likely right.

@@zyphreiumv4529 I think I only know one of the mentioned and despite changing their glam they still appear as the default glam during their reappearance in the MSQ. Would have been hilarious if they showed up with a namazu head mask I put on em. XD

@@zyphreiumv4529 Kurenai is also a Stormblood Delivery NPC added in 4.3 (M'naago was 4.1) It just seems a weird exception since all the rest can except Ehil Tou the dragon. I assume they just didn't bother at the time or were testing if players cared enough. (She was the 2nd one introduced.)

certainly like the cowboy look. Also with them now using normal small Gun models, they can start considering a future Job that use them. Certain players in the community been wanting a more Gun focused Job over how Machinist handle their gun. Also, as someone who grew up with the video game called Darkwatch, this will be great for any Wild West Vampire Hunter or Demon Hunter theme player character

The au ra horns are basically just middie ears, so hats that work for middies work for au ra - and you only have to look at the helms worn by the Heavensturn event npcs to see how badly they implement that sometimes. Which also brings back the "just let it clip" argument. (And makes the "it's because of hair" argument more likely.) As to the "deformation" on the shoulders, it is hard to tell, but in some of the video the deformation seemed to be the result of reflections from the surrounds off the metal - not arguing that it isn't bending with the pose as well, but rather that the reflected light is making it look a lot worse than it is.

If it weren't for the horns, that headpiece could work for a "Bloodeborne"-like glam and could be really cool for a Reaper. Might still work, but I'll have to wait and see since my OCD has me finishing my last other Custom Delivery character before starting this one. But yeah, I think if they had just left the "skulls" off the shoulders and helm, this would have been a 9.5/10

super short answer: Viera and Hrothgar don't have the same skull model as the rest of the races. At this point, even the people that don't play the new races are over the lack of hats for them.

I think it might also be related to the race exclusive hairstyles for Viera and Hrothgar not having "hat versions" (it's why they tend to get hats that remove the hair)..

They ALL use the EXACT SAME SKELETON. They just scale it. Viera female is 1.112x of midlander (which is 1x), miqo is ie 0.96x. They are just lazy to add the required moddifier for the new hairstyles unique to those races. No other excuse

I do really feel like this should have been an MSQ armor everyone gets. Doesn't affect me b/c I have crafters leveled so its easy, but it just looks like it would be a great outfit for the WoL during MSQ.

I don't really do much with crafters so I doubt I'll get this set, but I don't think it would work well for a MCH glam because I can pretty much guarantee that left revolver is going to clip into the lunchbox. If I was going to do anything I'd dye it black and use it for my RPR.

You can just level up a gatherer instead, WAY easier to do, especially with the Society dailies and the Custom Deliveries at the right levels, and add to that your Grand Company turn ins and the Levequests, yeah you'll level it up in no time. Either go Miner or Botanist for an easier ride.

The deformation is so weird. It is like the decoration is attached to the character's skin and gets stretched in a given direction depending on the pose. It must be an oversight since other shoulder decorations don't do that.

Also gauntlets clipping up top. I can understand if nothing change on the top but when looking they do adjust for them but doesn't adjust enough to avoid clipping.

Me: Oh look...another hat I can't wear ;A; We either get a hat that takes away our hair/makes us bald, fully covers the head/face so it doesn't matter or nada etc I'm so confused because they kept saying the hat issues in new content would stop being a problem for Hroth/Viera yet here we are. Then, suddenly, I can wear a hat or headgear randomly. It's honestly getting tiring. Like 99.9% is "not available for Hroth/Viera" and the 0.01% left looks like trash or is a partial head item (like I can wear a hat and get glasses but not the actual hat itself).

Finally, a combat ready represntation of my culture, lol. I've been waiting for this set so much that I precrafted today's turn in and logged out next to the NPC. I've got my Reaper glam plate set up and dyed just waiting to use the chest and chaps with the field commander's boots and wayfarer's gloves as soon as I get home. 😂😂 I agree the hat thing is a pain (I might be a male viera if I could wear my hats) I remember someone speculating the issue is with viera/hrothgar heads/hair, since every headpiece they can use also removes all of their hair and face shape. Basically, the issue isn't that hats don't work on them, it's that their head models are damaged/incorrect so they don't let the hats show.

Honestly I don't think Machinist ever should have went in the cowboy way when it comes to their artifact armor. It is really annoying that most of the cow boy stuff we get that looks amazing is only machinist, which head nothing to do with western culture. So I am glad we are getting more sets like this not for just machinist.

Personally don't feel any of the MCH artifact armor sets have a cowboy look beyond one of them having the cowboy-esque hat. Most MCH AF gear is made to look steampunk to fit the "person who works with machines and factory gizmos" aesthetic the job has, especially the Endwalker one. A good thing the dev team does is always make MCH more about the gadgets and not the guns, unlike the fanbase portrayal.
