I've been careful not to look at the comments so here's my attempt at the riddle. 29 cows didn't: there are 30 cows. "28 chickens" only makes sense in this sentence fragment if it is the opposite action to the other cows that didn't chicken meaning that 28 is the name/number of ONE specific cow and the other 29 cows didn't chicken.
